We are talking about 'Acronyms.' What does BIPOC, BBIPC, WOC, or POC actually mean? And why do we even have them? Take a Watch.
Here is the article we mention on the show: https://www.xonecole.com/dont-call-me-bipoc-when-you-mean-black/?fbclid=IwAR0xWKBaXmAp_um_RDdV3gcLS3YKjIUtNvKVEqwD4fea3_F-kU3YBtsB8fk.

We had a REAL and CANDID conversation around Demetria’s hardships and heartaches being in leadership roles in corporate America.
The three ACTIONS Demetria mentioned at the end of the conversation are:
1. Self-Inventory
2. If you don’t know, ASK
3. Give yourself GRACE to get it wrong and get it right
In addition, on our LIVE broadcast, we mentioned a few resources that go along with the conversation. Here are the resources:
1. Racial bias in pain assessment and treatment recommendations, and false beliefs about biological differences between blacks and whites: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4843483/?fbclid=IwAR0r4XCpA4LXiKvqc0Vj1uRaKrlINuGbJl5sFanNK7im_58JebRTCvyXidg

We welcomed Serena Connell on our show, an inspiring and upcoming artist & designer. She came on the show to help us talk about Black Hair. Serena did a wonderful illustration of why folks should not touch her hair. Especially since Serena has a lengthy process to get her hair that way. To see her illustration, you can connect with her at https://serenaconnell.com.
In addition, Serena shared her story regarding how she was discriminated against in school growing up ALL due to her hair. AND, you all already know…it was a hot topic for Tee-Ta, so yes, she went all in :)
Here are some quick takeaways:
Even though the Black hair dialogue for Black women stems from oppression ideologies -- it's too kinky, textured or bushy, Black women do take pride in their hair.
Sure. You love her hair. But why do you? Because it’s different to yours right. So rather than trying to pat her like she’s some exotic animal. ONLY Compliment her radiance.
Just because white women might be ok with touching each other’s hair doesn’t make it ok all round.
The history behind NOT touching a black woman’s hair runs deep.
‘Techy Techy stuff’ is about to be Tee-Ta’s new nickname :)

Whatever comes up…we go with the flow. That is having real conversations. Soo…Tee-Ta did her best staying present for clarity; yet, boy, she was on a roll. It ‘be’ like that at times…transparency and being authentic is one of the main ingredients for planting seeds of change…

Tiffany expresses her extreme annoyance with White people who still want to deny that White privilege EXISTS. She provides some great examples. Take a listen. PS – Tee-Ta just sips on her tea and allows Tiffany to share how she KNOWS she’s privileged. And hoping she can bring some concrete understanding from her perspective. Especially to those who choose to ignore it.
Here are a few great resources: A Guide to White Privilege & How to Respond When People Deny White Privilege.

What does 'allyship' truly mean? We like this guide as it talks about what 'allyship means': https://guidetoallyship.com. Per the guide, 'allyship' can be for multiple things. However, for our conversation...we're focused on 'White Allyship.' What is it? And who is a 'true' white ally? As during this critical mass race movement...people have decided to 'show-up' as allies. Listen to learn more!
