A Book and A Bev

EPISODE 18

All Your Foreskin (All Your Perfects)

Another episode, another book providing us the emotional trauma we didn’t know we were missing.  This week hosts Briony, Georgia and Ellie cover All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover.

We take a ride through the relationship of Graham and Quinn and their struggles with infertility.   While we definitely discuss some sensitive topics throughout, foreskin is also somehow referred to - which is not surprising if you’ve listened to any previous episodes; but you’ve been warned.

Hosts Georgia, Briony, and Ellie cover the heartbreaking book, A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole as recommended by a listener!

We follow Poppy and Rune's story of young love and terminal cancer and discover that Georgia will do nearly anything for Brad Pitt and Ellie doesn't deal well with trauma. Like at all. Briony holds space to feel all the feelings despite the general sense of chaos in this episode.

Forewarning: parts of this book will make you cry, and parts of this episode will make you inappropriately laugh. We make no apologies!

Assassins, demon cats & death? Say less. This week your hosts Briony, Ellie & Georgia get stuck into one of Briony’s all time favourites - Jay Kristoffs’, Nevernight.

This is a long and chaotic episode, and to be honest there’s more mention of incest and pink eye than initially anticipated but nonetheless we follow the life of Mia; a young assassin and her fear-drinking demon cat and their journey to becoming a Blade.

This week the girls are covering Danielle L Jensen’s Bridge Kingdom. With sexy assassins, an island made entirely of snakes and an epic slow burn romance this episode well and truly has it all.

Hosts Briony, Georgia & Ellie fan girl over the epicness that is Lara while touching on the intricacies of jungle life, the hierarchy of hair colours and an interesting discussion of the world's most dangerous sea creature - the dolphin. But don’t worry, the plot is also discussed as well as Georgia’s favourite smut talk.

The poddy is 10 episodes in and we’ve decided to change things up with a Q&A and future book recommendations.

Hosts Briony, Georgia, Ellie and Claire get emotional with their discussion on the representation of bisexuality; but they also keep it light with renditions of a Jojo classic, and Summer Heights High reference.

EPISODE 9

A Trove of Rough Sex

We’ve taken a sharp turn away from YA with this SJM number - there’s smut for daysss. Nesta & Cassian take centre stage in Silver Flames and we unpack whether Nesta can overcome her issues and become less of a surly arsehole to everyone she encounters.

Georgia, Briony, Ellie & Claire raise issues with the swapping/placement of bodily fluids, discuss our mutual love for all things daddy Cas and and Az and tell interesting theories about the future of the beloved ACTOR series.
