Hugh Mackay is an Author, Psychologist and Social Researcher. He is well known for his research regarding Australian society, focusing on the  issues that face our community and how we resolve them in a more compassionate, yet direct manner.

Hugh's renowned books include Australia Reimagined, The Good Life, and The Art of Belonging. Hugh was also an award winner of an Office of Order of Australia award due to his renowned work for the Australian community and social sciences.

On this episode my guest is Nick Locandro. Nick is the Team Manager of Team Subaru Giant Racing Team, participating in Australia's premier cycling competition the National Road Series.

Nick shares his journey transitioning from a stint in the WAFL to trying his hand in competition cycling with the team he now manages. Much of Nicks competitive career came to a standstill when his Father was diagnosed with early onset dementia.

Nick discusses his cycling experiences and his tremendous advocacy work with non for profit organisations, in a bid to raise awareness of Dementia in Australia.

Marcus Probert is a Psychologist base at the Three Lions Psychology clinic in Ballarat. 

Marcus has a substantially impressive CV, working previously at the Collingwood FC and Essendon FC respectively. Marcus held Welfare roles at both football clubs and residing with first year draftees such as Scott Pendlebury, Tyson Goldsack and Brent Macaffer. Following this, Marcus went on to attain a role at Cricket Australia. 

Nowadays Marcus focuses most of his work within the Three Lions Psychology clinic and working with students and youth within Ballarat.

In this episode, Marcus and myself delve into some of his memories and share a laugh reminiscing on is time at the Collingwood FC especially, whilst also discuss the importance of practising graititude, developing resilience and the importance of continuously looking after our mental health.

Brandon Hasick is the owner of Body By Brando gyms in Sydney, where they live by 'building better bodies', but also ones free of injury and reaching maximal optimisation for performance.

With a degree in Bachelor of Sport Science, Brandon emphasises the importance for us to all train as athletes and encompasses a program for all clients to be well rounded athletes, by exposing them to several modalities.

Brandon is an infectious character and he has an amazing passion for allowing individual's to feels as welcome as possible in a gym setting, prioritising community over the individual at his two facilities.

Simone O'Brien is a Domestic Violence advocate, speaker and survivor. After suffering a horrific attack in 2012 at her home in Brisbane, following the relationship breakdown of the perpetrator, Simone has made it her life to advocate against Domestic and Family Violence.

She shares her amazing, inspirational story of survival and her achievements since. She shares her knowledge regarding looking out for one another in hostile households, looking for red flags and how this incident has changed her perspective and conquering the New York Marathon.

On this episode, Pat is accompanied by Dan Cooper. Dan is an Australian Defence Force veteran, where he spent over a decade of his services in the Australian Special Forces. Following this time in his life, Dan transitioned in elite Strength and Conditioning coaching where he was apart of the High Performance team at the Australian rugby union side, Queensland Reds coaching stars such as Quade Cooper. Dan now however is studying his PhD in Science where he primarily focuses on human stress and threat response, learning humans optimal ability to survive in high pressure situations cognitively/physiologically.

Pat is joined by the incredible passionate Dr. Greta Prozesky, also known as The Wholisitic GP. These two men are some of the most respected men in the wider community, two men whom transcend all amounts of knowledge regarding indigenous people and culture. They share their important perspectives as proud aboriginal men, from Gunditjmara country.

It is important that we unite and support each as a community and make dramatic changes to our own insights/beliefs and to force systematic change for indigenous people and all cultures within our country. I feel discussions with the traditional owners of Australia, proper education, resources and voting necessary powers can implement the change we need.

Liam O'Brien is one of the most formidable young talents in the world of surfing. After coming so close to qualifying for the World Tour last year, I had the pleasure of discussing the world of surfing and Liam's impressive path so far in the sport. Liam is an intelligent, open minded and nice guy and he really shared a tremendous insight and perspective in his quest to gain his pro card.

It was a genuine pleasure, we discussed how he got started into surfing, his influences in and outside the sport, travels and experiences that come along with surfing, developing a competition mentality and sharing what plans are on the cards for one the most talented young surfers.
