  • Is It Me or My Hormones? Perimenopause and Your Marriage

    Ask Dr. Gina

Feeling irritable, exhausted, foggy, or just not like yourself, and wondering what's happening to you and your marriage? You're not imagining it. In this episode, Dr. Regina Ransom talks about perimenopause, the years-long hormonal transition before menopause, and the quiet ways it can show up as distance and conflict between partners.

    You'll learn:

    • What perimenopause is and when it usually begins
    • How sleep, mood, desire, and body changes affect the relationship
    • What she needs, and what he can do instead of taking it personally
    • A simple check-in to help you face this season as a team

  • What Actually Happens in a Couples Intensive

    Ask Dr. Gina

What even is a couples intensive, and is it right for you? It's the question Dr. Regina Ransom hears more than any other, so in this episode she walks you through it honestly, including the parts people are nervous to ask about.

Weekly sessions can leave couples just opening up when the hour ends. An intensive gives you focused time to get underneath the pattern, understand your story, and leave with a real plan forward.

    You'll learn:

    • How an intensive differs from weekly counseling
    • Who intensives are designed for, and who they're not
    • What the days actually look like, from start to finish
    • Honest answers to the most common fears: "Will it be too much?" "What if we fight?" "What if one of us isn't sure?"

If something in this episode made you think "that's us," visit adeeperus.com to explore intensives and book a free consult.

  • The Dance Most Couples Are Doing

    Ask Dr. Gina

Do you and your partner keep having the same fight, just with different details? It might not be about the dishes, the phone, or being late. It might be the dance.

In this episode, Dr. Regina Ransom breaks down one of the most common patterns couples get stuck in: one partner pursues, pushing to talk and fix it now, while the other withdraws, going quiet and pulling away. The harder one chases, the further the other retreats, and both end up feeling alone.

    You'll learn:

    • How to tell whether you're the pursuer or the withdrawer
    • The fears hiding underneath each role
    • Why the same fight keeps coming back
    • A simple tool to pause the dance and come back to each other

The cycle is the enemy, not your partner. Listen together, and talk about which part of the dance feels familiar.

  • Stop Drifting, Start Choosing Each Other

    Ask Dr. Gina

You can have the house, the kids, the routines, and the photos that look perfect, and still feel like you’re just existing together. That quiet kind of distance is common in long-term relationships, and it’s also the reason so many couples wait too long to ask for help. We start with a simple story about a couple who “aren’t fighting” but have slowly drifted into roommate mode, then we name what drifting really costs: emotional closeness, warmth, and the sense that you’re on the same team.

I bring my perspective from decades of marriage and years of couples therapy work, and I share the idea that changes everything for sustained intimacy: it’s not only about communicating better or handling conflict better, it’s about learning to fall in love again as you both evolve. The person you married at 27 is not the same person at 37, 47, or 57, and connection requires updating how you see each other, especially through busy seasons like raising kids, building careers, and carrying stress.

We also go beneath the usual relationship advice and get to the root causes that drive most recurring arguments. Many “small” fights about dishes, lateness, or tone are really about a deeper question: Am I safe with you? Do I matter to you? Will you be there when I really need you? You’ll leave with a practical prompt to try today: “When did you last feel really close to me?” Listen with your partner, share this with someone who needs a reset, and subscribe, rate, and review so more couples can keep choosing each other.
