This is the 1st episode of a 4-part series titled “The Journey of Motherhood”, so why not start with the basics - Reproductive Life Planning. We all know that life doesn’t always go as planned, but being aware of your reproductive health, rights, and whether or not you want to have children is only the beginning. Having the hard conversations in effort to outline your reproductive goals (children or no children) may lead to less anxiety in the future. Motherhood isn’t easy, but the journey allows you to appreciate the wild things in your life.

Why do we have to wait to be joyful? Or at least that’s what it feels like for most ….

Life is about basking in the love, learning lifelong lessons, and growing day by day, but I feel that some of us (including myself) don’t take the time to find JOY in the NOW. There will never be a perfect time for you to do what you think is “fully” embodying joy because life isn’t perfect. We have to be kind to ourselves and others, possess an optimistic attitude, and be grateful for all of the ups & downs we experience. And even through all of life’s imperfections, we must find JOY 😁

How important is sisterhood to you? Can you name the women you already share a sisterhood with? These questions arise due to the think pieces seen on social media as many women are talking about their desire for sisterhood. It’s become a trend for some to even want true friendship without being a friend themselves - that’s weird & will never work lol. In this episode, we reflect what sisterhood provides and how sisterhood can be beautiful thing, but women have to be willing to put in the work & effort just like any other relationship.

Have you ever paused to think about what the “traditional” woman embodies nowadays? Is there even such thing as a “traditional” woman? This episode explores intrusive thoughts regarding women and how we may be viewed by the world. One thing certain is that regardless of who sees one as “traditional”, women continue to move the gold post by enforcing, creating, advocating and advancing the world on a daily basis. This really is a shoutout to women and a reminder that they are loved through it all 💕

Reflect on a moment where you were upset, sad or maybe even anxious, and during that moment of transparency, your family member or friend blows it off as if you aren’t going through anything. Then reflect on the time that same family member or friend was experiencing the same feelings you were feeling, they were able to relate to you then weren’t they? People tend to forget that karma does exist and is very much real. “What goes around comes around and what goes up must come down” - lead with compassion and kindness because you NEVER know when those tables will turn on you.

That saying “You Can’t Pour From an Empty Cup” seems to hit a little harder as you grow older … As you navigate everyday trials and triumphs while still trying to give your all into every aspect of your life - family, friends, career, faith-based community, school, etc. - you begin to realize that there’s one person you should be pouring into before everybody/everything else. That person is YOU!! You have to pour into yourself FIRST so you can truly live in the moment and be the best partner, mother/father, sister/brother, daughter/son, cousin, friend you can be. Learn to properly REPLENISH YOUR CUP and you’ll feel how much of a necessity it is in order to live abundantly 🥰

To find true companionship nowadays can be hard to do, but the benefits outweigh the risk. To value the importance of that companionship is what keeps the relationship still going even through the ups and downs. To be loved and to express love is forever a beautiful thing ❤️

Why is it that, in most cases, older generations were raised within a village compared to nowadays most kids only have mom and dad doing EVERYTHING? It seems to be that villages (especially as it relates to parenthood) are nonexistent though the village is needed. Let’s reframe the narrative, open our hearts, and rebuild the village. We need others in our own communities to help bring everything together. From babysitting to providing emotional support, the village is where we should find love and comfort as we navigate life’s challenges.

Sometimes, we tell ourselves that we cannot show up as our authentic selves because we make up some story in our heads of why we are going to bother our partner, friends, family, etc. which isn’t always true. We have to stop convincing ourselves that we are an inconvenience when WE AREN’T. We have to stop thinking that our voices don’t matter and that we aren’t worthy when WE ARE. Life is about learning to appreciate those who validate your feelings, care about you, and share with you. Cease the overthinking.

Why is it that so many of us refuse to recognize our mental/emotional traumas? Especially our childhood traumas … Well, this episode helps puts things in perspective when it comes to healing the wounded child you continue to carry with you into adulthood. That child needs to know your pain is valid but your continued childlike behavior is not. Let’s grow into our true adult selves and work towards HEALING.
