Relationships are everything. We are created for fellowship and community. The wrong relationship.. romantic or just friends can ruin your life. The right relationships are also life changing!

Tony Robbins always talks about proximity being POWER. The closer you are to certain people, the more inclined you are to be like them, whether they’re successful or unsuccessful. I was scrolling through Instagram the other day and ran across post after post gearing up for 2020. People are READY to hustle, go crazy cramming the to-do list, and conquer the world on two hours of sleep. No breaks allowed. It’s beautiful to have a vision and big dreams. In fact, it’s healthy. When we keep going without pushing reset or taking a season to rest, it actually does more harm than good. In episode 47 of A Drop of Sunshine podcast I talk about how we cannot recharge our energy without pushing the pause button. When we step away, regain our energy, then we can come back refreshed with clear intentions.. Might I add.. the proper energy it will take to get it done. There’s a time to sow, a time to reap, a time to work hard and a time to rest.

In a noisy world, we can easily focus on the unimportant things and dismiss the important ones.. the ones that truly matter. Society teaches us to focus on “what’s in it for me” and the seen things when the important things are truly unseen. In episode 46 of ‘A Drop of Sunshine’ I share the recent passing of my grandpa and a dear friend who lost his life in a tragic car accident days ago. When we lose our loved ones, it’s never easy. It does however bring to light what is truly important in life and the fact that life is so precious. You can be the richest person in the world, the most famous celebrity, or have the greatest status. None of that will go with you when your time is up. Tomorrow is never promised. If you had one week to live, what would be most important to you?

No matter what, just have JOY! Everything is fine and dandy all the time, right? This is not the case. We have all been through storms, traumas, emotional damage at some point in our lives.. Some on a deeper level than others. When we suppress our emotions and forfeit healthy communication, we can actually harm our physical bodies, especially long term. In episode 45 of A Drop of Sunshine podcast I share the link between emotional trauma and how it can transition into illness down the road if healing or forgiveness does not take place. It’s so important to feel our emotions, communicate with love and HEAL. Sometimes this comes with setting healthy boundaries and having tough conversations.

Chestnuts roasting over the fire, drinking hot chocolate, getting engaged, spending time laughing with loved ones.. ALL. THE. FEELS. Just heavenly. As with anything, there’s always another side to the holiday cheer. So many deal with loneliness. Instagram does not highlight the nights of isolation, or heart break. Chances are, you know someone struggling during the most wonderful time of the year. Those feelings are just as real and intense on the opposite side of the spectrum. Pain is uncomfortable. Sometimes it is excruciating. It can take your breath away. Nobody likes pain. We’ll do anything, at all costs to avoid it. In episode 42 of A drop of Sunshine podcast, I offer a new perspective on pain. One that spins a positive light, as an opportunity for growth, change of direction, a way to gain empathy for others. Pain is needed, physically and figuratively for growth and to even protect us.There are some pain levels that are unimaginable and unbearable when they key is not handed over to our creator. Storms brew without our say in life. Some storms are severe.. Others may just move a little debris around. In either case, can we agree there are situations and circumstances we have no control over? What we do have 100% control over is how we respond to those unforeseen storms. If we’re not careful, we can easily give them authority to turn us bitter, with resentment and anger. These feelings do not benefit anyone or anything in a situation that cannot be controlled.
