  • How the Medical Community Fails Hashimoto's Patients with Dr. Gil Kajiki
The symptoms can be different for everyone: weight gain, fatigue, anxiety, depression, heart palpitations, breathing difficulty, dry skin, dry hair, digestive difficulties, insomnia or hair loss. But the doctors keep telling you your tests are normal, or they are treating you with drugs, but you aren’t getting better. Maybe they know it is thyroid, but they are giving you thyroid meds that keep having to be adjusted upward because they are not fixing the problem, only masking it.
Hashimoto’s is a disease where the immune system attacks your thyroid, but the medical community either can’t diagnose it, will tell you it’s just stress, or are treating the symptoms instead of addressing the underlying reasons your immune system is haywire!
None of this is new to today's special guest, Dr. Gil Kajiki, the nation’s leading expert in non-drug management for hypothyroidism, low thyroid and Hashimoto’s disease and founder of the Valley Thyroid Institute, a worldwide center. In his new book Sick, Tired, Untreated and Abandoned: How the Medical Community Fails Hashimoto’s Patients and How You Can Get Your Life Back, he cites the thousands of patients who have come to him out of desperation because the doctors ignored them, made them think they were crazy, misdiagnosed or failed to fix what was wrong. They were miserable and suffering.
Dr. Kajiki is a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, Chiropractor (C.F.M.P., D.C.) and patient educator with clients on four continents. His clientele include celebrities, corporate leaders, women stressed by family life and work, computer programmers, athletes, homemakers, radio show hosts, admin assistants, health practitioners and doctors. Dr. Kajiki creates his personalized program with dietary changes, nutritional supplements, vitamins, minerals and enzymes and lifestyle enhancements that improve lab test results and reduce symptoms.

  • Undoing Damage From Adverse Childhood Experiences with Ronni and Jennie
Research from the CDC shows that more than 60 percent of adults report having had a least one adverse childhood experience (ACE), and nearly 25 percent report three or more. The most prevalent are emotional abuse, parental separation or divorce, and household substance abuse. But other examples include physical abuse, domestic violence in the home, and emotional and physical neglect.
It may sound odd, but many people who were victimized by their families don’t fully realize it until they are well into adulthood. Growing up in a home with addiction and abuse creates very distinct and predictable dynamics.
Today's special guests, sisters and survivors Ronni Tichenor and Jennie Weaver found a way to emerge from a tragic cycle of inter-generational trauma and abuse. The authors share it in their book Healing Begins With Us: Breaking the Cycle of Trauma and Abuse and Rebuilding the Sibling bond.
Ronni Tichenor has a PhD in sociology, specializing in family studies, from the University of Michigan. Jennie Weaver received her degree from the Vanderbilt School of Nursing and is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with over 25 years of experience in family practice and mental health.

  • Is Social Media to Blame for the Rise In Narcissism with Marni Goldman
As narcissism requires constant validation, social media serves as a drug for many people. From constantly uploading pictures and 'selfie obsession' to nervously counting the number of likes on their pictures and followers are all tools of social media sites that make narcissists feel better about themselves. A study conducted by San Diego State University on 16,000 university students found that 30% of teenagers were narcissistic in psychological testing.
When we look at social media, all the tools used on a social networking site feed a narcissist’s need for validation and approval. Here, social media creates a vicious cycle, where already existing narcissists receive their daily dose of validation by uploading pictures, while social media itself assists people in developing and maintaining traits of narcissism.
Today's special guest, Marni Goldman will be discussing the connection between narcissism and social media, why likes and validation is so important so some, how lack of face to face interaction is affecting us, and signs that indicate you could be suffering from a social media addiction.
Marni is a Spiritual Life Coach and author of "True To Myself: Peace, Love, Marni." Goldman, the daughter of a drug-addicted mother, has survived a life of depression, ADHD, childhood PTSD, anxiety, and a leukemia diagnosis. Goldman works with people all over the world to help them transcend and heal emotional traumas.

  • Was Elvis Presley Destined to Die Young with Author Sally Hoedl
New research sheds light on the story of Elvis’ flawed DNA and chronic illnesses. For the first time, a research-backed explanation of why the world lost Elvis on August 16, 1977, is offered.
The news reports of the day painted him as bloated and unconscious on his bathroom floor, leaving devastated fans with a graphic, tarnished final image of their shiny idol from Tupelo. Toxicology reports confirmed that he was overloaded with prescription medications — just another cliché, a rock star who popped one too many pills. Those assumptions have plagued the story of Elvis Presley for decades.
Today's special guest, historian and author Sally Hoedel, doesn’t see Elvis as a cautionary tale of self-destruction. Instead, she sees a man who struggled, every day, to survive. First, Elvis struggled through extreme poverty. Then, he struggled through extreme fame like no one had experienced before. Finally, he struggled with disease and disorder in nine of the eleven systems of the body. Five of those disease processes, Hoedel finds, were present from birth.
In her compelling, thought-provoking release, Elvis:Destined to Die Young, Hoedel offers factual and scientific data, plus never-before-published information she gained by interviewing people who personally knew Elvis, to dive deep into his struggles with multiple chronic health conditions. Having access to various medical records and relationships with Elvis’ nursing staff was also invaluable. Her extensive research provides answers to lingering questions about his death and dispels the long-held theory that abuse of prescription drugs is what killed Elvis. The result is a totally fresh, unique, humanizing approach to Elvis.
Sally A. Hoedel, a lifelong Elvis fan and historian, has a journalism degree from Michigan State University and is co-owner of Character Development and Leadership, a curriculum business.
