Marriages can be one of the first relationships that begin to experience friction when times get hard. The fact is that healthy couples don’t fall in love, they commit into love.
During challenging times, individuals within families have a tendency to turn inward and focus on themselves rather than focusing on those around them. However, strong families are committed to having the same mindset as Christ when they face trying times. It is about choosing to be sacrificial rather than selfish, and that choice brings peace.
This is the new reality of the people of Israel. They were saved out of the slavery of Egypt, but God didn’t leave them alone. He started a process to show Himself to His people so they could know Him. That He was trustworthy. That He cared about them. That He would be with them and never leave them. God demolished the gods of Egypt not just for the Israelites. He did it for you! So that you would know who He is. That you would know His name. Yahweh! That He is your great I am.
For a heart set on rebellion, even a miracle can be explained away. Pharaoh's stone cold heart serves as a warning for anyone who has witnessed God's power, but refuses to receive His grace.
The purpose of the exodus was the same purpose that God has for everything He does: to reveal His glory both in salvation and judgment. What Moses and Aaron are going to discover is that God’s servants are not called to be successful, but to be faithful.
