Prayer : stop debating/negotiating with the word of God.

Listen - pay attention and/or show interest

Age, position, title, acquisitions, and race sometimes get in the way of people listening to sound advise,

Exodus 18:13-27 NKJV

And so it was, on the next day, that Moses sat to judge the people; and the people stood before Moses from morning until evening. [14] So when Moses' father-in-law saw all that he did for the people, he said, "What is this thing that you are doing for the people? Why do you alone sit, and all the people stand before you from morning until evening?" [15] And Moses said to his father-in-law, "Because the people come to me to inquire of God. [16] When they have a difficulty, they come to me, and I judge between one and another; and I make known the statutes of God and His laws." [17] So Moses' father-in-law said to him, "The thing that you do is not good. [18] Both you and these people who are with you will surely wear yourselves out. For this thing is too much for you; you are not able to perform it by yourself. [19] Listen now to my voice; I will give you counsel, and God will be with you: Stand before God for the people, so that you may bring the difficulties to God. [20] And you shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and show them the way in which they must walk and the work they must do. [21] Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. [22] And let them judge the people at all times. Then it will be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they themselves shall judge. So it will be easier for you, for they will bear the burden with you. [23] If you do this thing, and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all this people will also go to their place in peace." [24] So Moses heeded the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he had said. [25] And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people: rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. [26] So they judged the people at all times; the hard cases they brought to Moses, but they judged every small case themselves. [27] Then Moses let his father-in-law depart, and he went his way to his own land.

There is a lot of advice given.

Fear vs wisdom - Sunday 06 October 2024

Fear - Emotion induced by perceived danger

Wisdom - Deep understanding or knowledge of a subject

Prayer : Lord take away fear in my mind and replace it with understanding in the name of Jesus Christ.

Most of our prayers are open ended prayers. We do not follow it up with what should happen next.

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

‭‭Hosea‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.”

There is a thin line between what some call fear and what others call wisdom.

Judges 6:27 NKJV

So Gideon took ten men from among his servants and did as the LORD had said to him. But because he feared his father's household and the men of the city too much to do it by day, he did it by night.

People have lost their life, dignity, position, etc while trying to act tough.

Choices - Sunday 29 September 2024

Matthew 4:9 “I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.”

Prayer : Lord help me to make the right choices in the name of Jesus Christ.

from the beginning (Genesis) to the end (Revelation) the scriptures are full of choices given to man by the Creator, God Almighty.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 NLT

"Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! [20] You can make this choice by loving the LORD your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the LORD, you will live long in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."

Life is about choices (decisions).

It is unfortunate that most of us think that decisions will be made on our behalf. If and whenever such happens, we have no voice and frustration as well as blame is almost guaranteed.

Joshua 24:14-15 NKJV

"Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! [15] And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

“For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

Prayer : Father open my spirit, mind, and heart to understand your word and other subjects in this world for my benefit, Amen.

Exodus 3:5 NKJV

Then He said, "Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground."

Race against time - Sunday 15 September 2024

It is about time that preachers (whatever title/office) start to “Talk to people”. This is communicating with the purpose to provide information.

As we grow society has always said “years are being added to us”. The reality is that “our time on earth is being reduced”.

So celebrate every moment of your life.

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Prayer: Lord give me the grace to be quick in the name of Jesus Christ.

From conception, infancy, childhood, teenage, young adult, adult, old; we are racing against time (age).

What some fail to realize is that time won’t stop nor can it be overtaken by any of us.

“And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. And, behold, there was a man named Zacchæus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. It is sad in today’s age that people of influence, fame, wealth, popularity, importance, grace, favor, authority, power, ability, skill, intelligence; think they have all the time in the world.

The reality is that every human being has a fixed amount of days to exist on this earth.

‭‭Job‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Man that is born of a woman Is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not. And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, And bringest me into judgment with thee? Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one. Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, Thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;”

This is a teaching to remind us of our days on this planet.

Value every moment.

Treat everyone with respect, love, and honor.

Have integrity and a person of your word.

Too familiar with God - Sunday September 2024

1 Thessalonians 5:17 NKJV

pray without ceasing,

Prayer : Father I want to be near you all my life in Jesus name.

There is a danger in becoming too familiar with God;

Lose respect

Value less

Take for granted

Not appreciate accordingly

Joshua 3:4 NKJV

Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, that you may know the way by which you must go, for you have not passed this way before."

Joshua had to remind the children of Israel that even though God was with them, He was still to be respected and feared.

Mark 6:1-3 NKJV

Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. [2] And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, "Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! [3] Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?" So they were offended at Him.

Our obedience to God is linked with how we view Him (respect and honor)

7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Prayer: Lord help me that I may refrain from judging others in the name of Jesus Christ.

“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.”

1. Extreme poverty

2. Shame - worthlessness or powerlessness

3. No place in society (alone)

4. No hope

“And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.”

In life you get there are three common but important steps:

- How you come in - first impression

- The process

- How you go out - how you will be remembered

There is hope - Sunday 25 August 2024

Expectation of a positive outcome

From creation what man was given by God is hope. As you read on from Genesis through scripture into the New Testament. You will realize that hope is what God keeps giving to man.

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭71‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth. By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You.”

Hope heals, restores, helps strengthen, provides a positive feeling, etc.

Joshua 5:10-12 NKJV

Now the children of Israel camped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight on the plains of Jericho. [11] And they ate of the produce of the land on the day after the Passover, unleavened bread and parched grain, on the very same day. [12] Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land; and the children of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year.

40 years in the wilderness eating manna.

Instead of asking “why has the manna stopped”, they enjoyed the produce of the land.

Don’t focus on how it was yesteryear. Instead enjoy what God has given today.

When a season ends it will be fooling to ask “why now”. Even though many want to remain in it the reality is that time has no contract with anybody. It keeps ticking symbolizing progress (whether you agree or not).

Hope is all about embracing the possibilities and enjoying the moment.

God with me - Sunday 18 August 2024

Matthew 1:23 KJV

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel” (which being interpreted is, “God with us”).

Prayer: Father I desire that you’re with me always as I have Jesus Christ in me, Amen!

Over the years for many generations, as a people we have blindly or ignorantly used the phrase “God be with you”.

The question I have for you is “how do you when God is with a person”?.

What does is it even mean for God to be with a person?

Funny enough there are people who don’t even know what it means to have:

A partner, friend, parent, sibling, etc

This is how you will know for sure that the Living God is among you. As you advance into the land, he will drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites, and Jebusites.

You’ve got to stand out as a person, family, or group when God is with you.

There’s gotta be something about you that cause others to not only admire, but wish to emulate.

So it was, when the people set out from their camp to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people, [15] and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest), [16] that the waters which came down from upstream stood still, and rose in a heap very far away at Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan. Miracles, uniqueness, wonders, power, authority, and style have all to be part of your character and personally when God is with you.

Exodus 32 : 1 NIV

When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods[a] who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him’’.

It is not easy to wait and remain patient.

However fulfillment of the expectation and success depends on it.

Acts 10:38 KJV

how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

What you do in your period of waiting will determine the legacy you will leave behind.

Be careful in your waiting period because the enemy can deceive you into believing nothing is/has happened.
