Hello everyone! We're now starting the Fall Season of A Life with Friends, and we're starting off with an episode discussing Vulnerability. How do we express it, why are we so uncomfortable in expressing it, and what's the point of being vulnerable anyways?
Hello friends! This week's podcast is the second of our book club. We're discussing "all about love" by bell hooks, and looking into how it changed our perspective on love. We question how we experienced love growing up, how love has been depicted in media, and how we learned what it means to give love to someone.
Also, this is the last episode of this season. We're busy recording and editing the second season now, which will come out in September. From now till then, we'll be doing more here on Patreon and on our Discord, and sharing more of the books in our hands, ideas in our minds, and steps on our journey.
Check us out on Instagram as well. We'll be posting more thoughts and writing there too :D
For this week's episode, we're talking about breakups. How do we process them? What do they mean for us? What are ways to get through a difficult breakup? What are some unhealthy habits post breakup that don't serve?
If you like what we're doing here, and want to join in on the discussion of the topics we're discussing here, check us out at A Life with Friends. We've got a Patreon, and a bunch of cool people on the Discord, where we're going over a lot of these topics in more depth.
Check us out on Instagram as well! Next week we're discussing "all about love" by bell hooks. It's one of my favourite books of the year, and it's a good topic to cover after this one. See you then!
In this week's episode, we're discussing boundaries.
For this week's episode of A Life with Friends, we're talking about Mindful Communication, what it means to listen, the importance of asking questions more than offering unsolicited advice, and more.
This week we're starting our book club discussion, with our thoughts on Braiding Sweetgrass. We'll be talking our favourite chapters, what we learned, and how we see the world differently after reading it.
This week we're talking about our experiences with therapy, what worked, what didn't work, and how it has helped us. Therapy has been crucial in both of our healing journeys, and it kinda sucks that mental health is still kinda taboo, and going to a therapist is still often stigmatized. We'll talk about that and more this week, and we'd love to keep the conversation going here in the comments and on Discord.
Compassion is a topic I'm trying to learn more about. I've heard about compassion talked about very much in meditation, from Metta practices, to what happens to the brain when practicing compassion, and it's something I wanted to understand more. So, here's a little discussion we had on the topic. Please do share your thoughts on compassion as well. Do you incorporate compassion into your practice? How is compassion different from empathy? There's still a lot to discuss.
Welcome to the first episode of our new podcast, A Life with Friends. In this episode, we're going to try to learn a bit about each other's history with mindfulness and meditation, from our first histories of practice to how it affects us today. We'll talk about what works for us, what we feel when we meditate, and how we've found it helpful.
