University @ Buffalo Alumni & Buffalo NY City Planner. Juweria Dahir, an immigrant who came from war torn East Africa to Europe. Settled in rural Switzerland, then to University in the U.K. to meeting her husband and moving to America. She tells her amazing story and some of the ups and downs, and times when she had to face adversity right in the face. Her humble attitude and gracious presence is truly inspiring. She has been chosen by Mayor Byron Brown as a finalist for the ATHENA Award of Excellence.
