We had the time of our lives fighting dragons with you. đ đ
A message from Tiffany, Megan, and Katie.Â
When we finish our Deathly Hallows reread, we will also close the chapter in our lives that is Swish & Flick Podcast đď¸
Weâve always promised to be transparent with you, and we want to share where weâre at. Not just as fans of this series, but as people who care deeply about inclusion, compassion, and accountability.
Weâve talked privately about this for years. The conflict of loving this story while watching the person who wrote it use her platform in ways that directly hurt a community that two of us are a part of and one of us is an ally for. Itâs painful, itâs confusing, and itâs something we canât ignore.
Weâve reached a point where we feel itâs irresponsible and wrong to continue platforming and discussing new projects tied to her. Every time we talk about those things, weâre essentially promoting her IP, and by extension, her platform.
Itâs complicated, because this series shaped who we are. It gave us each other, and it gave us all of you. But at the same time, we canât ignore whatâs happening. We donât want our love for a story to be used to justify harm.
So moving forward, hereâs what you can expect from Swish and Flick: weâll continue our reread of Deathly Hallows all the way to the end. But we will no longer cover any new projects connected to the Wizarding World and JK Rowling.Â
Our focus will be entirely on the story that already exists. Weâre going to finish what we started and that includes reading the chapters, exploring the characters, and reflecting on how this series shaped us. At the close of Deathly Hallows, weâll close this chapter of Swish and Flick too.
Weâre not done as creators. We love telling stories, and we love sharing conversations that bring people together. Weâve been talking about what might come next... something new, something that reflects who we are now. But before we start any new adventure, we want to finish this one right.
When we started this podcast, we had no idea what it would become. Itâs brought so much laughter, friendship, and even healing. Weâve met some of the most incredible people and thatâs something weâll carry with us forever.
Itâs been about so much more than Harry Potter. Itâs been about community. About people finding each other through a shared love of stories.
