This week we have my good buddy and newest roommate Tyler Beede. Tyler has traveled the world throwing a baseball in front of other humans. Throughout the journey he’s gathered many skills. One of them is his ability to articulate thought. 

Since meeting Tyler in 2021, his integrity for quality presence and kindness towards the human experience has inspired me. Fortunately we continued to stay in touch and see each other from time to time. This conversation was featured in Minnesota , where we both currently live. 

It’s genuine, it’s raw and it showcases our depth together. I’m grateful to share space with the good man. Enjoy the show.

Steve McGuiggan is the co-founder, Chief Culture Officer, and Director of Baseball for Minnesota Mash. Steve has been the driving force in creating a community and culture based on the growth of the person first and the athlete second.

As the Director of Baseball from 2012-2017, MASH was awarded “Health Business Most Likely to Succeed” by Minnesota Business Magazine. He was also named a Minnesota Chapter Coach of the Year award winner by the Positive Coaching Alliance, one of the most prestigious honors in youth sports. The national brand only awards 150 coaches across the country in all sports with this honor.

Steve is a longtime friend of mine and a man I’ve taken many adventures with. From ball players to coaches, we’ve shared a similar path to our understanding. Today, we have Steven Martyn—M.A. (traditional plant use), B.F.A. honours, artist, farmer, wildcrafter, builder, teacher, writer, visionary. The Founder of The Sacred Gardener, Steven, has more than thirty years of experience living co-creatively with the Earth, practicing traditional living skills of growing food, building, and healing. 

For a background, Steven created Livingstone & Greenbloom in 1986, Toronto’s first green landscaping company. In 1996, he created the Algonquin Tea Company, North America’s premier bioregional tea company. He has given talks and run workshops internationally for more than twenty years and taught plant identification and wilderness skills at Algonquin College for 11 years, and at the Orphan Wisdom School for eight years. In 2014, Megan and Steven started the Sacred Gardener Earth Wisdom School.

Steven released his first book The Story of the Madawaska Forest Garden in 2016, his second, Sacred Gardening in June 2017 and The Roundhouse in 2022. At the end of April, he is releasing a new book: Gnosis: Growing Sacred Culture; A Reclamation of Seed Spells and Divine Marriages.
