Well, for a time, secular archaeologists didn’t believe they ever existed. After all, while they were mentioned in Scripture, the Ammonites didn’t seem to appear anywhere else. So, of course, the Bible must’ve just made them up, they declared.
Well, archaeologists eventually discovered an inscription that appears to be for an Ammonite king—and they even found the remains of an Ammonite palace.
The Bible was right. The Ammonites existed!
