James Marcus is an editor, translator, and critic who has written and 
lectured widely on Emerson. His essays and criticism have appeared in 
leading publications such as The New Yorker, the Times Literary 
Supplement, and Harper’s Magazine. In this episode we discuss his 
recently released biography of Emerson, Glad to the Brink of Fear: A 
Portrait of Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Wayne Bradshaw is a research associate at James Cook University, 
Australia, where he completed a PhD in literary studies. He is the 
founder of James Cook University’s postgraduate cultural magazine, Sudo 
Journal, and has also published a chapter on the importance of 
philosophical egoism to the terrorist persona in Metaphysical Sociology:
