On this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, Emily discusses a polygamous marriage: Jacob and Leah and Rachel. Though God’s plan for marriage is one man and one wife, Jacob is led to the sin of polygamy by his father-in-law Laban, who deceives Jacob into marrying Leah instead of Rachel. He then offers Rachel, and the two sisters become married to the same man – causing problems for years. This episode also looks at the two women individually, because the comparisons begin at the beginning of the texts that mention them and continue throughout the years. Two sisters who are so unalike, yet both offer valuable examples in both the positive and the negative.
