  • What Is Self-Actualization & How You Can Achieve It!

    — "The self-actualizing man not as an ordinary man with something added, but rather as the ordinary man with nothing taken away. The average man is a human being with dampened and inhibited powers."

Valeria interviews Roman Gelperin — He is the author of "THE MASTER MIND OF THE SELF-ACTUALIZING PERSON: The Life and Legacy of Abraham Maslow, and My Sudden Awakening into Self-Actualization and five other titles.

Roman Gelperin injured his back lifting weights when he was twenty. He spent the next year nearly unable to walk, and in searing nerve pain all of his waking hours. And it was the best thing that ever happened to him. Having lost his physical health, he achieved perfect psychological health—what the psychologist Abraham Maslow called self-actualization.

Through deep introspection, he resolved all of his psychological problems. And since then, he has been writing books on the different insights this has provided him into human psychology.

Roman is the author of six self-published nonfiction books addressing different facets of psychological health. They are: Addiction, Procrastination, and Laziness: A Proactive Guide to the Psychology of Motivation, And It Was All Your Fault: Unraveling the Inner Psychology of Depression, How it Begins, and What Cures It, Self-Actualized by Poker: The Path from Categorical Learning to Free-Thinking, The Master Mind of the Self-Actualizing Person: The Life and Legacy of Abraham Maslow, and My Sudden Awakening into Self-Actualization, On Rotting Prison Straw: The Self-Actualization of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, and To Set a Soul of Fire: The Life and Psychology of Ayn Rand.

Roman Gelperin works as a full-time Montessori Teacher for preschool children aged three to six. Roman has a BA in psychology from Stony Brook University. He was a Research Assistant at Dr. Ellen Langer's Harvard Mindfulness Lab. He is a member of MENSA, with a top 99th percentile IQ. He is a Zendo-trained Psychedelic Peer Support specialist, and has trice worked as a Zendo volunteer providing peer support at Burning Man and similar festivals. • The Beauty Of Boundaries

    — It is important for people to know their boundaries in order to behave appropriately with each other. There is a clear line between one person and another, which defines their personal boundaries. Having clear boundaries affects personal relationships, family relationships, and workplace relationships. Boundaries ensure a successful relationship for everyone, even when setting them can be challenging. Setting boundaries is essential for maintaining positive relationships and staying mentally healthy. It's not your responsibility to do this work alone. In order to set boundaries, it may be helpful to seek the support and guidance of a mental health professional.

Valeria interviews Hannah Hayden — She is the Founder Of And A Clinician For, Sapphire Counseling, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

Hannah has been a licensed clinical social worker since 2019. She attended UNC-Greensboro initially majoring in interior architecture, but questioned this decision when she became more excited about her Psychology of Colors class than she did for any of her major-specific classes. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and communication studies, then graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with her Master of Social Work two years later. While working towards her clinical licensure, Hannah worked in a variety of clinical settings including psychiatric hospitalization for children and adolescents, methadone and suboxone clinics, a local city jail, and outpatient counseling. Once licensed, Hannah eventually discovered that outpatient counseling was her true calling. She found that being able to support individuals one-to-one provided a space for nonjudgmental growth which is not something easily found. Today, she has her own outpatient counseling practice, Sapphire Counseling, located in Virginia. She finds that empowering her clients to better manage distressing situations, while improving their overall quality life, is incredibly rewarding. When Hannah isn't working with and supporting her clients, she spends much of her time with her family and two cats, and reads as many true crime novels that she can get her hands on.

  • Love, Love Is All, The Great Healer!

    — "Be the Love in all and everything – this is the lesson, and it can be hard. This will be the key, is the key. You search for the answers to life, to manifesting and you are the key. You are LOVE and Love heals, creates all, for it is ALL.

Love is a consciousness, and you are that consciousness! A spark, a part in this body, this beautiful body, connected to the Oneness, to all and everything. Love = Universe. The consciousness of Love manifests all – galaxies, stars, tea, coffee! And once you sit with this and become that Love, release the veils/barriers you put up to hide you from it, then the answers start to come in.

There is nothing to do beloved, sit and be loved, all will be revealed. Too simple for the human mind which wants to keep doing BEING is the key to finding the answers. So, sit and be loved, all the time, receive that Love, let it pour through you and let the mysteries unfold and be revealed."

  • Brainspotting: In Our Response Lies Our Growth & Our Freedom

    — Much like the body, the mind is capable of healing itself naturally. Psychologist and creator of Brainspotting Dr. David Grand believes the way people look and gaze can affect their feelings. The goal of Brainspotting is to enable people to target negative emotions by positioning their eyes in a certain way. Through trained brainspotting therapists, one's eyes are slowly guided across the field of vision until a brainspot becomes apparent, a location that evokes traumatic memories or painful emotions. There is increasing evidence that trauma is "stored" in the body and that it can alter the way the brain works. Trauma can, for example, have an effect on emotions, memory, and physical health. Brainspotting seems to activate the body's innate ability to heal itself from trauma. Disturbing memories can be replaced in the brain, resulting in painful feelings being exchanged for more resolved, peaceful things. Brainspotting makes use of this natural phenomenon through its use of relevant eye positions. This helps the brainspotting therapist locate, focus, process and release a wide range of emotionally and bodily-based conditions. It is also a brain-based tool to support the therapy relationship, as it taps into and harnesses the body's natural self-scanning, self-healing ability.

Valeria interviews Susan Martin — She is a Board-Certified Marriage and Family Therapist practicing psychotherapy in a thriving private practice in Boise, Idaho.

She is the founder of Susan Martin Therapy and Wellness working with adults struggling with the lasting effects of trauma, including developmental trauma experiences. Susan is certified in Brainspotting, a progressive and cutting-edge approach to treating the central nervous system's adverse responses to current life stressors.

Susan helps clients who feel their past is keeping them from living their best futures, those whose bodies are tired of existing in survival mode, and those who are struggling with their relationships because of the somatic stress living with an always-activated central nervous system. Susan also specializes in depression, anxiety, the effects of shame, attachment wounds, and life and family changes and transition. Emotional health, nervous system health, neurobiology, and overall physical wellness are her passions. Her approach to her work is to treat the "whole" person and reach root causes of symptoms. Also, a certified life coach, Susan is currently developing a program to help heal and empower today's high-achieving, busy, must-do-it-all women who are lost in people-pleasing, drowning in expectations, and don't feel they have control of their lives to be authentically present, have deeper human connections, and have lasting healing from their pasts.

As an adopted adult continually growing and rejuvenating from her own preverbal trauma, Susan feels deeply and is sensitive to the world around her. Susan's work represents a second career earning her Master of Arts in marriage and family therapy from Northcentral's School of Behavioral Sciences in her forties as a busy wife and mother of two teenaged girls. Always an integral focus in her work with clients are resilience, purpose, gratitude, and, of course, joy. Her favorite quote is from the great Viktor Frankl, famed psychiatrist, holocaust survivor, and author of Man's Search for Meaning, "Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom."
