The Targum says she insisted that she could not be his wife because she was from the nation of Moab who were rejected eternally by GD and His Torah.The Chidah sees the struggle of Ruth to physically walk, as the ultimate indicator that Ruth was sincere. He draws a fascinating comparison to Reish Lakish. Reish Lakish as well demonstrates his sincerity to become a Baal Teshuva by displaying physician weakness.
