“Grace Upon Grace” includes several nuggets of truth which contrast true grace with a mixture of grace and law:

Nugget #1 - We don’t need to balance grace and truth.

Nugget #2 - We are forgiven past, present, and future.

Nugget #3 - Repentance is not a change in behavior.

Nugget #4 - The believer does not need to confess every sin to be forgiven.

Nugget #5 - Paul never used the law on the believer.

God has invited all of us to boldly enter His holy presence by faith in the blood of His Son, “by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh.” In His presence we can enjoy intimacy with Him and thrive without burdens, fears, and shame. At the moment that Jesus was crucified, the thick veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom by God Himself through the blood of His Son. The windows of heaven opened so that all people can have access to the Father. The same blood that tore the veil is the same blood that has washed your sins away so that you could boldly enter His holy presence! It’s a new and living way! The more we enjoy His presence, the more abundantly alive we will be! Beyond the veil at the throne of grace we should have a a debt-free, labor-free, hardship-free, hassle-free, guilt-free conscience. What kind of conscience is that? A conscience full of Jesus! It is only in the secret place of the Most High that we experience His extravagant love, the amazing grace of Jesus Christ, and the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit. It is from that place that we learn the unforced rhythms of His grace. And it is in the presence of His holiness that we are awakened to the revelation that Jesus is our all in all!

Paul preached uncompromising grace! In fact, you see him rebuking the church in Galatians 1, 2, and 3 for returning to self-righteousness and religion and for allowing the gospel to be perverted. He used Abraham as our example of pure grace, and his cornerstone teaching was: “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” By simple faith in Jesus Christ for our righteousness, we become children of God and joint heirs with Jesus. Our identity in Christ, our inheritance in Him, and the “righteousness of faith” gives us hope no matter what our circumstances!

The most empowering truth you can know is that your life is hidden with Jesus in God. Your life is not what you see in the flesh. Your life is who you are in Christ. That is your spiritual identity. You are a new creation in Christ! We can now look “full in His wonderful face,” and when that happens, we are transformed into His image from glory to glory. And the divine instrument of that transformation is the Holy Spirit from within. Can you hear His voice saying to you, “You are forgiven! You’re not guilty anymore, You’re not filthy anymore. First Adam brought in sin; Last Adam brought in righteousness! In one fell swoop, one man sinned and brought judgment and condemnation and death to all of us. In one fell swoop, one Man (who never sinned) obeyed by dying our death on the cross resulting in the free gift of His righteousness for everyone who simply believes! What we gained in Christ’s obedience at the cross far exceeds what we lost in Adam’s disobedience in the garden. It’s not merely that we are forgiven, but over and above being forgiven, the righteousness of Jesus Christ is put to our account. We have moved from a prison of sin, to a prison of righteousness. Description: In this first message of “His Grace Is Enough,” the foundations of grace are laid, and the mixture of works and grace are explained. The “equation” of the gospel is Jesus + nothing = everything! God demonstrated His own love towards us in that while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us. God’s faithfulness is His unwavering reliability, His absolute commitment, and His uncompromising steadfastness to act on the basis of His unchanging nature, the objective reality of who He is, the absolute truth of His word, and the unbreakable strength of His covenant promises. Jesus Himself is the evidence of God’s faithfulness. He is the exact representation of the Father’s nature. He is called Faithful and True. He is our Faithful Promise Keeper!

An attribute is a characteristic of a person’s nature. Healing is an attribute of God because it comes from His nature. His nature determines His will. If we know His nature, we’ll know His will. His will will never contradict His nature. How do we know His nature? Jesus! Jesus is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature. “You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38, NASB) If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus! Jesus Christ is Jehovah Rafah, the Lord our Healer, and He is the same yesterday, today and forever!

The mercy of God is His kindness towards us in our suffering and shame and affliction. Mercy is God’s desire to help us because we need help! Mercy is God’s compassionate response to our human brokenness. It’s not sentiment; it’s love that moves Him to act in order to relieve our pain. Everything in the life of Jesus - from His humble birth to His teachings to His tender-heartedness towards the sick, hurting, and rejected, to His miracles, to the cross and the resurrection - displayed the mercy of God, His active kindness towards fallen and hurting humanity. Jesus, who is the radiance of God’s glory, is the kindest Person we’ll ever know.

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.” (1 John 3:16, NIV) Before the beginning of the world, the Father and the Son always existed in Perfect Love. But when Jesus came to earth, something was added to His divine nature of Love: the sinless human nature of man. Why? So that we - as fallen human beings - would be made capable of receiving His love and be restored to Him. The Father glorified the Son and made known His true nature and identity by restoring the Son to His rightful place in the presence of His unveiled glory in heaven, but Jesus would have to go through the cross first. Jesus, while always maintaining His divine nature, “emptied Himself” and became a Man made of flesh and blood, like us in every respect, yet without sin, so that He could be our Lamb of God. He was born to die! The cross would be the means by which God would glorify His Son. As Jesus returned to heaven, God would say, “Mission accomplished! Well done, My Righteous Son, My Good and Faithful Servant!” The Son would also glorify the Father through the cross by displaying God’s great sacrifice in giving His Son, His only Son, the Son that He loved for us. The Father’s nature of Perfect Love would be demonstrated. To reconcile us to God, Jesus became fully God and fully man. Jesus, our Mediator, is the full expression of the love of God for mankind! As the “God-Man” He is still our Intercessor in heaven. Nothing can ever separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!
