Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.
Do you know who this fellow is? His name is Ross Turner. He’s not a composer, lyricist or instrumentalist, so you may wonder why his photograph is featured on this week’s playlist. Well, Ross was my boss (he hated the term!) for the 25 years I worked at Guided Discoveries until my retirement a few years ago. Ross passed away unexpectedly on October 9 and as my feeble attempt at a tribute and message to the family, the final segment of this week’s show is dedicated to him. If you’re not familiar with Ross and Kristi Turner and Guided Discoveries, after listening to the show I encourage you to find out more about them at the website gdi dot org. In other segments, we’ll hear some records that are just “ducky,” we’ll visit some dance halls, enjoy some musical chocolate and hear about some good girls. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.
THANKS FOR LISTENING! ENJOY THE SHOW!
