In this conversation, Professor Glaude interviews his colleague Professor Imani Perry about her expansive, pathbreaking archive. One book, May We Forever Stand, a cultural history of the black national anthem "Lift Every Voice and Sing," tells a story about black institutional life, ritual and loss.
