Song Of The Week: Imogen & The Karidotters. Love this song, how exciting that a Norwegian indie pop singer can make a great country track. Enbla Karidotter is the drummer for the Norwegian indie darlings Razika, now moving from drummer to singer in her solo project.

NB: I also really like Kayls “Moon Song”, please give it a listen.

Single Of The Week: Fool by LULAY. As per the article on Triple J Unearthed “I am LULAY, a Black Australian artist and producer that blends pulsating electronic pop/rnb melodies to create an atmosphere where groove meets emotion.” For me that sums it up perfectly. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Definitely one to watch.

Song Of The Week: ‘Surabaya Johnny’ by Rufus Wainwright. Perhaps a controversial choice, and at 52 he could possibly be called a rainbow elder. His first album was released in 1998 and the latest, I’m a Stranger Here Myself: The Songs Of Kurt Weill is his 22nd. His music has ranged from indie, pop, classical, and now tribute albums, he has also done a re-creation of Judy Garlands’ Carnegie Hall concert. His voice and popularity are as strong as ever and I am proud to champion his work.

Single Of The Week: ‘Footnotes’ by Monstress. A new track from this all-female non-binary band out of South Sydney. They cover nu jazz, r&b and soul and it sounds so authentic, but the lyrics and production is bang up to date. Sit back, sip an espresso and relax.

Song Of The Week: “Hydroplaning” by Amanduh. This Melbourne singer-songwriting has been recording since 2022, and she seems to be getting more assured in her writing and singing. He EP Pantsuit in 2024 was excellent, and this seems to be keeping her upward trend. I love it and I hope you do too. Please check out her back catalogue.

Single Of The Week: “Do You ever” by Georga Raath. As per ABC Unearthed “Georga Raath is a Fremantle-based indie-alt-pop artist and producer celebrated for her raw lyricism, captivating vocals, and emotionally charged songwriting”. ALBUM Of The Week: Instead of single of the week I am nominating the soundtrack to the new Christmas movie, Christmas Karma, This is a reworking of the Charles Dickens novel, think  A Christmas Carol meets Bollywood. The soundtrack is wonderful mix of Bollywood and London street music, including singers such as Pixie Lott, Boy George and Billy Porter. The ghosts of Christmas Past Present and Future are played by Eva Langoria, Boy George and Billy Porter, and the whole filming album is a sweet and beautiful tribute to the spirit of Christmas.

Song Of The Week: Caught Up by ixaras. As per funds mgmt, “Ixaras is a queer Indie Pop Rock artist & songwriter raised in Meanjin/Brisbane who champions her self expression through the art of music and live gigs. Alongside her melodic ear worms and thought provoking lyricism about the complexities of growing up and young love, Ixara epitomises the meaning of youth, inclusivity and accessibility today with her all-ages, DIY event management and record label ‘Anti-Dismal’ – throwing sold out gigs in backyards, skateparks, community halls and houses”. This track from the new EP What Is And What Isn’t is such a full-on catchy track, but then the whole EP is great from the first single, DO YOU LIKE GIRLS to the end, you must listen to this, please?

That’s your lot ….. now sashay away …
