Two young people meet, have everything in common, fall in love and live happily every after. If only that was the case for Jason Allen and Lindsay Cutshall. Their lives and love story were cut short by one disturbed individual. A family friend updated a few things we mentioned in the episode: Jason actually grew up in Holland, Michigan (which is a neighboring city to Zeeland). He was my next-door neighbor. His family moved to Zeeland when Jason was in 5th grade but our families always kept in touch.

The rescue helicopter that noticed Jason & Lindsay on the beach alerted authorities, not because Jason & Lindsay weren't supposed to be there, but because they weren't moving. It was daytime, the helicopter was loud and Jason & Lindsay weren't waking up. They knew of Jason & Lindsay being missing persons in that area so they suspected they had found them... and they were right.

Shawn Gallon was spared the death penalty because he was offered a plea bargain that was approved by Jason & Lindsays' families. They didn't want to sit through a trial and thankfully, Shawn Gallon obliged.
