Our public schools are under siege. Right-wingers have been trying to kill the American public school system for decades. They want to divert school-funding property taxes to individuals who want to send their kids to charter and private schools that won’t teach real history, sociology, biology. It is a loud and vocal—not to mention intimidating—minority, and they have help. It comes from a pretend-grassroots organization and right-wing media.
