Forcing a TikTok sale or shutdown won't address the privacy and influence problems it, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook all cause. We need to broaden our approach to regulating social media. It’s disturbing to hear the media talk about Trump’s Day One plans as if he has already won. How we arrived at a place where a person who is wholly unqualified both by temperament and fitness for high office is in a neck and neck race for our highest office is a damning commentary on our collective attention span and lack of desire to educate ourselves about the coming political contest. All I can say is, democracy, tighten your chinstrap. You’re in for a rough ride. Here’s a brief commentary that pulls it all together. I hope you’ll listen.
