We’re living in a beautiful mansion that we inherited from our grandparents. Houses of all description have one thing in common: they need continual maintenance and repair. Because of a consistent Republican refusal to govern, the house is crumbling. We’re past the point of needing a coat of paint. We need deep maintenance on traditional infrastructure like roads and bridges, but we also need to address the invisible infrastructure that allows Americans to work productively. It ranges from broadband access—as important today as the Erie Canal was in 1817—to affordable childcare that keeps women in the workplace.
That and more awaits in today’s Turning Point.
