I heard a really good homily that talked about the struggle for us to understand when innocent people suffer. I thought it would be a good thing for us to talk about because we see Sister Faustina suffering and, also, her confessor and spiritual director. Trying to get this message of Divine Mercy has caused a lot of suffering for all three of them. But...why and what does it mean?

We are going to hear a term that I have never heard before. It's called "holy indifference." Normally, when we speak in spiritual terms, being indifferent is not a good thing to be. But, holy indifference? I had to stop and think about what that exactly means.

It can kind of be troubling when we read about a saint that performs mortifications. It's hard for us to understand, it makes us a little queasy, and we aren't quite sure if it's something good to do. My daughter asked me the other day about Sister Faustina performing mortifications. She wanted to know what I thought about it and what Jesus thinks about it. So, I thought we'd dive into this touchy topic.

As we look around our world we can tell that things aren't great. I'm sure every time period has thought that things were getting really bad and the end was near. However, in the past, most were able to hold on to their belief in God. Collectively, as a whole, nowadays we aren't turning to God. Instead, we are putting ourselves up as gods and the consequences are predictable--disaster and despair.

Have you ever had a person show you kindness and you totally buy into it and then it turns out not to be sincere? It always makes us a little tender in our heart, doesn't it? When we put our trust in someone that shows us kindness and then it turns out that they were looking to set snares, it makes it hard to deal with that person. So what are we to do?

We will talk today about why it's so hard for us to give others mercy. It's not hard for Christ, but, man, it sure is hard for us. I thought of some reasons about why it is so difficult for us as humans.

Milestones day today! We have finished another 10 days and we move into Notebook Four.

It will be short and sweet today. There is a prayer at the beginning of Notebook 4. We will pray along with her and then leave it at that while looking forward to what is in store in this new notebook.

We are continuing on with our condensed Novena. On Day 5, Christ wants heretics and schismatics brought to Him. On Day 6, He wants meek and humble souls and, also, the souls of children. Take a moment to think about the souls you would like to offer up as your intentions.

We are continuing on with our Novena we started yesterday. We can't do the full nine days because of time constraints. So, we are lumping some days together. Christ has asked that certain souls be brought to Him each day.
