A Victorian man has denied killing a teenage girl and stuffing her body in a suitcase in Thailand.

45-year-old Simon Carman from Ballarat is accused of murdering a 17-year-old Thai girl in the popular tourist town of Pattaya.

Police allege he picked up the teenager from the Beach Road vice strip and took her to a hotel in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Her naked body was later discovered in a suitcase dumped alongside a railway line, about 10 minutes drive from the hotel.

Police allege they have surveillance footage of Mr Carman riding a motorcycle with the suitcase strapped to the back.

Mr Carman has been charged with four offences including murder, which carries the death penalty or life in prison.

A second oil tanker has reportedly been hit in the Strait of Hormuz as tensions escalate, despite a ceasefire deal between the US and Iran.

The British navy says the strike is the second attack on a ship in the waterway in 48 hours.

And, the NSW Government is investing an extra 34 million dollars to expand shark-spotting drones across the state's coastline.

Around 70 beaches will receive year round drone surveillance from July 1, with Sydney coverage increasing from 26 to 38 beaches.

The $120 million Shark Mitigation Program will also introduce AI trials to improve shark detection.

The government says while shark encounters can't be eliminated, the investment will help detect sharks earlier and improve beach safety.
