Abounding Grace on Oneplace.com

When a person becomes a Christian it is vitally important that they begin a daily time of study in God’s Word. I personally know of quite of few who would recommend the Gospel of John as a good place to start. It serves as a great foundation in our understanding of Jesus and can bring us to a deeper faith in Him. And today, we begin a verse by verse journey through John. As we get underway, pastor Ed Taylor shows us it emphasizes that we can experience eternal life.

You’ve probably seen it as I have in recent years, the increase of verbal sparring on the internet, complaining, and even division. Sadly this is happening at an alarming rate even in the church. Today on Abounding Grace we’ll receive some valuable instruction from the book of Jude that will serve to help us get along with each other, and avoid foolish arguing, complaining and division.

We’re knee deep in our study of Jude, and pastor Ed Taylor will cover verses 12-19 today. It’s a heavy section to be sure, but oh so needed! Jude is exposing false teachers who are a threat to the faith, and making it clear we need to contend for the faith. The reason for that in part is to make sure we’re not deceived or influenced by them.

In verses 8-11 of Jude the author provides a detailed description of the characteristics of the apostates that had crept into the church, Jude now draws a parallel between them and three infamous figures in the Old Testament. And that is Cain, Balaam and Korah. We’ll look at each of them today.

Ed Taylor will be turning our attention to Jude. And in verses 8-11 we’re going to spotlight a warning that there will be those that will not endure sound doctrine. It’s something we’re seeing in large measure today, so we’d do well to lean in to hear and receive what Jude has to say.

Maybe you’ve noticed, you can be dead right in what you say but dead wrong in the way you say it. Today’s Abounding Grace will help us avoid that common mistake. Last time we were together we began to learn about the gift of prophecy, mentioned in Romans chapter twelve and elsewhere. Today we’ll be encouraged to grow in the use of this gift, and speak it forth at the right time, and in the right way.
