Today we begin a new series in Jude. Jude is going to be condemning a false teaching that had infiltrated the church. The opening part of the letter really gets us to think about who and what we are. Are we like the people Jude is describing, or are we a genuine believer? Let’s be encouraged to know the truth and fight for the faith, as God would have us.

It’s encouraging to read of the difference God made in Peter’s life. By grace and the Spirit of God, Peter overcame failures like denying the Lord three times and became a man who would later die a martyr’s death. Pastor Ed has us consider his steadfast love for the Lord even in the face of challenges and opposition. It’ll serve to encourage us to keep our eyes on Jesus in these difficult days.

And when we come to realize the world and universe around us will be destroyed one day, it really is rather foolish to store up riches here on earth. Today on Abounding Grace we join pastor Ed Taylor in Second Peter three and see the wisdom in living for the eternal.
