Abounding Grace on Oneplace.com

If you’ve done an in-depth study of the Spiritual Gifts and manifestations of the Spirit, I’m sure you’re familiar with the various viewpoints that exist in the church. Some suggest that the sign gifts have ceased, and no longer for today. That would include the speaking of tongues, it’s interpretation and prophecy. But today on Abounding Grace, as we complete First Corinthians thirteen, we’ll discover that we need the Spirit, gifts and manifestations until the Lord returns.

Earlier this week you may recall our attention was on the love we’re to have as believers. But now our focus shifts to the soon return of Jesus, and you’ll see how the two are related. We’re to love like Jesus, until He returns. But in order to do this, we need the help of the Holy Spirit. He’ll help to stir love up in us.

When you give is it out of reluctance, or some sort of obligation? We’ll be introduced to a group of Christians that had a much better motivation than that… they gave because they loved the Lord and cared about those around them. They gave liberally, above and beyond their ability! Let’s hear more about this as we join pastor Ed Taylor in Second Corinthians eight.

We are going through First Corinthians right now. What would you say you’re known for? Maybe it’s your accomplishments at the workplace, or your wealth? Some are known as being a gossip, or an angry, bitter person. But wouldn’t it be nice to be known as a loving person? That’s actually what the Christian should be known for, and today we’ll be encouraged in that direction.

While many Christians are sitting in the stands watching the game, so to speak, while a few are actually participating… our aim today on Abounding Grace is to encourage you to get off the sidelines and into the game. It starts by realizing you are very important to the team or church. Today pastor Ed Taylor visits First Corinthians twelve and points out a very common attack that you’ll no doubt face as you walk with Christ.

Many Christians have believed the lie from the enemy that they’re not very important or needed. And so they remain on the sidelines. Today on Abounding Grace pastor Ed Taylor urges us to get back into the game, as he takes us to First Corinthians chapter twelve.

Some might be tempted to think we’re opening a can of worms today on Abounding Grace, as we enter into a talk about the gifts and manifestations of Tongues and its interpretation. But really we’re just opening the Bible. Pastor Ed Taylor will help us arrive at a biblical understanding of these two manifestations that are often avoided, misunderstood, and even misused.
