We’re in the middle of a series in First Corinthians on the weekends. As we open up chapter seven we discover it’s ok to be single and ok to marry! But maybe you’re wondering today, what’s God’s calling on your life? Pastor Ed will point out we all have different callings. For instance, some may be called to remain single for a long period of time or even a lifetime.

We open our Bibles to First Kings seventeen today. Elijah is about to enter the scene, and he shows up at a very dark and difficult time. God is going to use him at such a time as this, to proclaim the truth. I think you’ll see how this relates to our lives, as we too are living in a dark and difficult time. Like Elijah, God can use you too.

As we continue our study of First Kings today on Abounding Grace, we can’t help but notice there were very few good leaders in that day. Sure you’d have a good King now and then, but by and large they were evil. But pastor Ed Taylor is quick to point out the many lessons we can glean from their mistakes. And today we’ll learn how drinking and try to please people can get you into deep trouble.

We’ll meet you in First Kings sixteen today. Ephesians 5:16 exhorts us to redeem the time, because the days are evil. Question is, are you making the most of the opportunities before you? Today we’ll learn from some Kings in Israel’s history that steered off in the wrong direction. Through their example we’ll be encouraged to both know and redeem the time.

Whether you’ve been granted a position of leadership in your church, in the home, or even in our nation the way you lead and live matters! We’re to serve well. When we don’t, the people that follow us will suffer. That’s one of the takeaway lessons from First Kings 15 that we’ll bring to the table today on Abounding Grace.

Whatever side of the political spectrum you land upon, I’m sure you’d agree that over the course of our nation’s history we’ve seen both good leaders and bad! Some stood for righteousness, and others far from it. We see the same pattern in the history of Israel and Judah. Today on Abounding Grace pastor Ed Taylor will point out how people really suffer with poor leadership. That’s true back in the days of the Kings, just as it is today. We’re in First Kings fourteen.

Many conflicts and disagreements in marriage center around sexual intimacy but God doesn’t want that to be the case. And so He addresses this very issue in First Corinthians seven. Pastor Ed Taylor is about to look at this very practical passage and show us how we can glorify God in marriage and specifically through sexual intimacy. We’ll also be reminded of God’s definition of marriage here on this our weekend edition of Abounding Grace.

We’ll be in First Kings fourteen today. At this point in time, the nation is divided and not in a good place. We’ll be introduced to two Kings, Rehoboam and Jeroboam. Both had their problems, and it could be traced back to their idolatry and turning their backs on God. It can easily happen to us, so let’s see where things went wrong.

We’ll be in First Kings fourteen, if you want to find your place there now. Today we’ll be encouraged to follow God’s loving lead, as we go about serving and ministering in the church. Yes there are a variety of different forms of church government and a lot of confusion in this area I might add. And pastor Ed will help us sort through this, to arrive at God’s intention for each of us in the church.

Maybe you’ve noticed, throughout the years things have come into the church that may have even raised some eyebrows. And you’re left wondering, was that of God? And how can you really know? Today on Abounding Grace we’ll learn to measure everything we see and hear with God’s Word, and if it doesn’t line up, reject it!
