Joshua and Israel were on the brink of the promised land, but one thing stood in their way: Jericho. If the walls of Jericho were going to fall, it would require a courageous leader. We, too, need courage for the Jerichos we face!

Sermon Series: Jericho Must Fall

As we conclude our study of the book of Hebrews, we find this simple prayer “May the God of peace equip you…” We all want to be equipped by God, but what does it mean to be equipped by the God of peace? Come discover the power of peace today!

A long time, God told Moses to build a Tabernacle with very detailed specificications. It turns out, the Tabernacle was a replica of the real thing in heaven, where Jesus serves as the High Priest. We'll find today that Heaven's High Priest brings a better ministry, a better covenant, and a better promise.

We can get so hung up looking back at what Jesus has done that we fail to see what He is doing right now. We look to past spiritual giants and marvel at how Jesus worked through them way back then. Here’s the thing: Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever. If we really believe that, then we should be expecting that He will move in our lives just as He did centuries ago with the heroes of faith.

Have you ever just had enough!?!   You just can't take it anymore.  I think God has had enough... of us feeling like we aren't enough.  Feeling like we are bound to the pursuit of money and man's approval.  It's time to say enough to all of that and allow God to be the One who is more than enough!

The struggles of life and faith can be all consuming. We get entrenched in our own problems or worries and often get stuck in those places. In today's text, the author of Hebrews calls us to get beyond ourselves and get into the trenches with others who are struggling. Because when there is a fire, we need firefighters on the scene!

When our faith is under fire, it can shake us to the core. When things around us crumble, feelings of fear, doubt, anxiety and worry start to creep in. Here in Hebrews 12, the author of Hebrews reminds us that we are part of an unshakable kingdom. And when we partner with that unshakable kingdom, we become an unshakable people.

Don't let the root of bitterness find a foothold in your life.  Pray for those that have offended you.  Be filled with God's love.  Forgive.

Do we want to experience strength in the struggle? Then it's time we CONSIDER Jesus, what He has done for us, in us and through us. We need to allow ourselves to be CORRECTED by Him, to learn, to make changes as he empowers us. And we need to be CONFIDENT in Him. He is the one who gives us strength. 

Walking with God is a great joy that also requires great work. It demands the same kind of endurance an athlete needs to run a long race.  Along the way, we will encounter things in the way, including temptation and sin.  But if we persevere even when our faith is under fire, we will someday utter the same words as the Apostle Paul did in 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
