ACOFAE Podcast presents: The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King

The tail, the ears, the eyeliner. We came for Cardan and stayed for Jude. Welcome to Elfhame and the first non SJM fantasy book that Jessica Marie ever read. This is Laura Marie’s favorite series and she gushes about strong women, the allure of power, and the vivid nightmare that is Faerie while Jessica Marie reflects on her growth (this is a re-read for her) about the tail, and the love of a good thigh sheath.

Trigger Warnings include: physical violence and alcohol and recreational drug use

ACOFAE Podcast presents: Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

Chaol. Love him or hate him, we all agree that if he’s the only way to get Yrene, then yeah..ok..fine. I guess sure he can come along for the ride. The book no one and at the same time weirdly everyone wanted, it’s Tower of Dawn. We’re on the Southern Continent with the royals and the healers and we are liking it a lot. Plot out of nowhere that will shake the foundation of the other MCs, Laura Marie and Jessica Marie discuss what that plot drop means for everyone, ponder if our opinions of Chaol changed, and gush about just how awesome women are. Celaena Sardothien said it best, "the world needs more healers," and that's exactly what we get here...and then some!

ACOFAE Podcast presents: Empire of Storms

We almost titled this episode "Daddy Phantom Hands". IYKYK. The book that Laura Marie can't make herself finish and the book that gave Jessica Marie a taste of what was to come, it's Empire of Storms. The plot comes together and character ships are sailing as we discuss beaches, pirates, the gods, the power, and the REALIZATION that left Jessica Marie speechless.

ACOFAE Podcast presents: ACOSF: A Court of Silver Flames

There’s a lot to say. This is our longest episode to date. This episode was edited in haste. This episode has initial reactions, different opinions, a new view of Cassian, and is full of appreciation for the fact that SJM is no longer writing YA. We all know we read what we read. Let’s talk about it. Because we can’t talk about it with our family. It’s faerie smut.

ACOFAE Podcast presents: Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas.

Ever wonder what Jessica Marie sounds like at 4am? Then this episode is the one for you. As she powers through this episode without coffee moments after finishing the book (in true form), we discuss the growth of Lysandra and Aelin's relationship, swoon over Rowan, yell at Chaol, and witness the birth of the phrase "hello princeling, hello witchling". Witches, wyverns, kings, princes, gates, fate, and one fire breathing bitch queen in the center of it all. "Perhaps the monsters needed to look out for each other every now and then”.

ACOFAE Podcast presents: ACOTAR series recap (so far)

Don't have time to re-read 3.5 books to get ready for ACOSF? We've got you covered in this episode....kind of. Our ACOTAR series recap touches on Nesta (more than we were expecting), Chapter 55, Feyre taking down the Spring Court, and popular ACOSF theories, along with our own. We also raise the questions: When is the right time to read fan fiction? What happens when the official story doesn't line up with your personal expectations and preconceived notions? and What happens when head cannon is stronger than actual cannon?

*Spoiler and Trigger Warnings: * There will be spoilers in this episode specifically from the ACOTAR series, a MAJOR Crown of Midnight plot reveal, From Blood and Ash, A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire, and Supernatural series finale. Additional spoilers include Game of Throne and Star Wars. As well as discussions surrounding sex and physical violence.

ACOFAE Podcast presents: ACOTAR: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas.

Tune in as Jessica Marie looks back at initial reactions for ACOTAR and cringes, Laura Marie comes in hot with page numbers, and editor Sam tries and fails to edit out the number of “likes” being said when the two of us get riled up. We all apologize for that...but not for the swearing. That was necessary.

Spoiler warnings: The worlds of Sarah J. Maas (major Throne of Glass plot reveal at end of episode, if you have not finished Crown of Midnight).

ACOFAE Podcast presents: Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas.

Our love for the men created by SJM continues as we finally meet Prince Rowan Whitethorn in all his surly and long-haired glory. We also have our hearts a bit broken by Dorian's plotline and his perfect fuck you to Chaol: “You cannot pick and choose which parts of her to love”. Join us as we discuss blood oaths, the Rowan controversy, and ponder the idea that Celaena died so Aelin could live.

ACOFAE Podcast presents: A discussion on "villains"

Get heated with Laura Marie and Jessica Marie as they learn about the many different ways to describe a villain and discover that men have a monopoly on redemption arcs and women are either jealous, crazy, or irredeemable. Join them as they dissect the vocabulary used to define strong women and lament the fact that the villain is almost always the hottest and most interesting character in the story. If evil….why sexy?
