ACOFAE: A Collection of Fandoms and Exploration.

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Cruel Intentions: “I’m the Marcia F###ing Brady of the Upper East Side…”

It's back to school season and what better way to kick it off than with Cruel Intentions. Set in the late 90's in New York City, Cruel Intentions throws us back to a time when cell phones we're large and used for CALLS, but blackmail and manipulation are the same then as now. Always getting dumped for innocent girls, Katheryn is out for revenge on her ex-boyfriend and the new girl, Cecile. Cecile's mother wants Katheryn to mentor Cecile before the school year starts to get her adjusted to a coeducational setting. Sebastian is the black sheep step-brother and ruiner of reputations. Annette is the crux of it all. What follows is a story that ruins lives, reputations, and prospects while also uplifting truth and acceptance of others and yourself. The soundtrack is fantastic, the cinematography and sets are gorgeous, and the LOGISTICS are the bane of Jessica Marie's life.

"Are you in? Or are you out?"

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Oathbound

If you've been following the podcast for a while you know that the Legendborn Cycle has a special place in the hearts of Laura Marie and Jessica Marie, for so many reasons. One of those many reasons is the beautiful way that the story depicts grief and all of the way that it can effect a person. That and so much more is the focus of Oathbound, where Bree finds herself in an extended training montage and side characters become main characters and main characters are sidelined. All things lead to an auction of that contains all of the items that all of the characters are questing for, the only real question is: Who are all these people? Because with Bree's training comes conditions and those conditions will impact decisions in the present and in the future.

"That was rash!"

Hey, ACOFAE aren't prudes. You've probably been thinking that recently, but Laura Marie and Jessica Marie promise that they are not, and Bride will prove it! Misery is a vampire in a world where humans, werewolves, and vampires have carved out a truce by way of using collateral— children— to guarantee peace. When Misery's father comes to her and tells her that she will be the bride in a marriage to broker peace between the vampires and the werewolves, what follows is an unlearning of assumptions and stereotypes on both sides. Filled with all the best tropes and partnered with characters that have major chemistry, Bride is a delight from start to finish.

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Eurotrip: "King. Cooper."

A movie that represents: a time, a place, a feeling, a moment is absolutely Eurotrip. Placed firmly alongside other raunchy comedies of its time, Eurotrip may have gone under the radar for some people but not ACOFAE. It's the summer after High School graduation and Scotty is happy with his girlfriend, Fiona, his best friend, Cooper, his plans to work with his dad all summer, and his German pen pal who is awesome and also a guy. Except that Fiona is cheating and dumps Scotty immediately after graduation and Cooper facilitates a trip for them to go to Berlin to meet the German penpal who IS NOT a guy. Scotty's German is schlecht. What follows are European shenanigans and lots of full frontal male nudity which is/was a welcome change of things.

"Scotty doesn't know that's Matt Damon."

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: A Far Better Thing: “2025 - it was the worst of times, it was the worst of times”

When was the last time you picked up a one of the "classic" books for fun? Has it been a while? Was it required reading that you were tested on at the end? Keep those answers in mind as you join Laura Marie and Jessica Marie in discussing A Far Better Thing by H.G. Parry. A reimagining of A Tale of Two Cities, this story sees the reader encountering now only the classic characters like Sydney and Lucie but also fairies, goblins, and kings. Meeting your Changeling is something that is not done, but when Sydney meets not only his Changeling but his childhood loves as well, plots are revealed and past crimes must be paid for with blood. ACOFAE also touches on accessibility, required reading, retellings, and movies that borrow from the classics.

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Cinderalla is Dead: Reading is timeless.

Slightly in their classics era, ACOFAE is reading diversely all year round and exploring Cinderella is Dead. A reimagining of the classic story in every way possible, the reader finds themselves in Prince Charming's kingdom and all is not well. Cinderella has been dead for 200 years and her story has been made into laws that women must follow, and they are horrible laws. Men have all the power and no one ever questions the King. Ever. Until Sophia runs away from the mandatory Ball and sets things in motion that reveal a plot centuries in the making. Full of magic, family, legacies, and a sapphic love interest Cinderella is Dead shows that diversity is beautiful and should be fought for.

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: The Robin on the Oak Throne: "Gentleman in the streets, freak in the sheets."

So. There are monsters. The main characters are based out of New York, but we're not starting in NYC in book 2. We're starting off somewhere else, and we're stealing something. No, not one of the things we need, stealing something else for reassssons. There are memories wrapped up in nightmares capped off with spells, and therapy. No really. There's also parties, theater, an auction, a Queen, two men fighting over the same women, and a man desperate to get back into fairy. WHEW. Oh, a wedding and two major heists, and a tree cult. Did you get all that? Join Laura Marie and Jessica Marie as they unwind all of the plot threads that make up The Robin on the Oak Throne. Jessica Marie has A LOT to say and Laura Marie is frustrated by The Pattern. There's a lot going on.

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Jessica's Genre: Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood.

Celebrating Jessica Marie's half birthday with her genre of choice, ACOFAE dives into the Romance genre with Ali Hazelwood's Love, Theoretically. Surprising maybe someone, Laura Marie loved this story that is filled with Academia, it's politics, people pleasing, and learning how to truly be yourself. Oh and also unlearning the need for male validation. ACOFAE loves that. Elsie is a Physicist and needs a job badly. Jack is a Physicist and has met Elsie before in different circumstances. Shenanigans ensue that are as delightful as they are meaningful. Throw in a delightful female friendship dynamic and a grand gesture at the end and Laura Marie and Jessica Marie are eating this story up.

Why are men.
