This episode is one that I’ve had locked up since last October. I’m so glad that I am finally able to share this one with you! In this episode I interview Andrea Incudine, who is the Director of Impact at Family Reach, a financial lifeline for families fighting cancer. My family has been lucky and grateful to have been a recipient of financial assistance over the past two years while my son is in treatment. Andrea and I discuss the many ways Family Reach helps families with non-medical bills such as mortgage, rent, and utility bills. We talk at  length about the unique Financial Treatment Program that pairs financial planners with families organize their finances and help plan for the future. Oh man! It feels so good to be back here producing episodes for you! Let’s see! The last episode I aired was back in October 2020, two days before my sweet baby Leo, Ollie’s little brother, decided to enter this world! I’ve been MIA since his arrival and even though I cherish every minute with my husband and my boys, I feel I have a calling to continue this work and continue to share my son’s journey back to health in order to help others feel less alone.

In this episode, Ryan and I give you a bunch of updates! Ry is back at work, and I’m home with the boys! One huge update is that Ollie was moved from the 3 year protocol to the 2 year protocol and now is slated to finish treatment this April! I share with you some Pre K homeschooling tips and we talk about sticker charts and our son’s new found love for an old school board game! Stay tuned in to find out which one it is!

Many times families are so focused on the child’s diagnosis and treatment that overall care and well being takes a backseat. I had the pleasure of speaking with Jyll Alvarez, our Spiritual Counselor this week and she shares with us what Palliative Care is, the many services that are under that umbrella and we specifically focus on Spiritual care.

She’s a wealth of knowledge when it comes to working with families and children with life threatening illnesses and allowing them to WONDER and explore the world of spirit and faith. Honestly, I’m not quite sure how to give my next guest Jen Burke a proper introduction. Jen is the President and founder of Saras Smiles. Her angel daughter Sara courageously underwent treatments for Medulloblastoma (a brain tumor) at the age of four. Heartbreakingly, she gained her wings less than a year after diagnosis but her memory still provides thousands of children smiles daily! It was an honor and a privilege to have some time to speak with Jen. I loved hearing about Sara, her interests and the special memories they share as mother and daughter.

I’m truly in awe of Jen, what she’s created with Sara Smiles and what she provides for families like mine in memory of her daughter. Jen’s goal is to give kids fighting cancer as many smiles as possible and know they are not alone. My son, Ollie was a recipient of one of Sara Smiles Kits and we’re still exploring it!  Stay tuned to learn how you can request one for your child too!

I’m so glad to be back in the studio after a long hiatus! Life has been busy! We had a great summer, moved into a new house and were lucky to get down to the beach for a couple weeks!

Hey Everyone! I’m back after a little hiatus! This week we share with you a whole bunch of updates! We share whether we’re having a baby boy or girl, we talk about a fun social distance family outing, Ryan shares his love of golf, and we tackle potty training! As I mentioned in the episode to come, potty training can be easily overwhelming for first time parents and even more so for parents with kiddos going through treatment. We share with you an excellent resource that provided us the confidence to take the leap and get rid of the diapers and help our super kid transition to the next stage in being a little boy! I like to think of this episode as some good news and offer hope for the future of pediatric cancer research in a time when our world is hurting. I had the pleasure of speaking with Laura West and again with Courtney Rinaldi from the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. In this episode we highlight all the great things LLS is doing to keep live saving cancer research funded and moving forward no matter what. We review and talk in depth about the LLS Children’s Initiative, a 100 million dollar world wide effort to discover new pediatric cancer treatments for blood cancers. We talk about how LLS can help your family through a cancer diagnosis every step of the way through treatment and beyond. We highlight ways to get involved with LLS through fundraising, volunteering, and joining the movement for better treatment at the governmental level.
