Adam Does Movies

I look back at all the big movie releases in July and rank them from worst to best. While it wasn't the best month for films, it certainly had the biggest blockbusters for the summer. The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Superman and Jurassic World: Rebirth; all released in July! There were a few big streamers too such as Happy Gilmore 2 and Heads of State. Scary thrillers like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Together kept things interesting while yet another animated Smurfs movie was crapped out. Here is my ranking of all 10 movies!

East Of Wall Review - I went to the AMC Unseen Screen movie which happened to be East of Wall. A movie I had never heard of before. It's unfortunately not something I care to revisit in the future. East of Wall has some nice cinematography but a very lost script that can't focus on anything, leading to an emotionless, somewhat chore to get through.

War Of The Worlds Review - Amazon Prime Video just dropped the worst movie of 2025. Ice Cube stars as an HSA spy who single-handedly has to save the world from an alien invasion. They are after our DATA!!! War of the Worlds is absolute trash and I am dumber for even watching it.

Together (2025) Movie Review - Alison Brie and Dave Franco star in a wild new twisted thriller called "Together". This film is doing some pretty crazy things visually but not getting near as gross or disturbing as The Substance. I found Together to be a happy middle ground with some great visual effects and wonderful performances by the two leads. This is an easy recommend and my favorite horror film of 2025 (so far).

The Naked Gun (2025) Movie Review - Frank Drebin is back! Well, in Jr. form. Liam Neeson takes up the mantle as the newest hero for Police Squad. The Naked Gun is a legacy comedy sequel done right (instead of left). I was a big fan of this movie and can't wait to see what this team does next!

Happy Gilmore 2 Movie Review - More like Unhappy Gilmore! Our angry golfer finally got a sequel, direct-to-Netflix. I wish he would have stayed retired. This legacy comedy sequel offers very little laughs and a whole lot of bad story choices. Adam Sandler is a shell of his former character and often plays second fiddle to the incredibly bloated cast of characters.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Movie Review - We are on the fourth attempt to make The Fantastic Four work on the big screen. Did it take the MCU to get it done correctly or is this another dude to add to the pile? I gave the movie a fair shot and I shockingly found myself enjoying it quite a bit more than Superman! Here is my spoiler-free review!

Smurfs (2025) Movie Review + Recap. Join me as I take you on a journey with the Smurfs for one last ride. Smurfs (2025) is the 3rd attempt to launch a new Smurfs franchise and it will probably be the last for awhile. This movie is terrible. Kids will be mildly entertained while parents will want to smurfing die watching this crap.

Eddington Movie Review - Ari Aster is back with another movie to maybe kinda enjoy? Eddington is a fictional town in a very real history. I am not entirely sure if I enjoyed Eddington but it definitely left an impression.
