In this hour, last year only 18 cases of influenza were detected in BC, likely due to COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time. Dr. Ran Goldman, pediatrician and UBC professor of pediatrics, joined Adam to talk about how people can prepare for a more impactful flu season this year. Later, Adam spoke with Craig Jones, Department of Geography at the University of British Columbia, research coordinator for the UBC Housing Research Collaborative, about a report that looks into evictions across the country. The report found that over 10 per cent of renters in B.C. report being evicted, the highest percentage in Canada.
A recent safety audit conducted by the RCMP and Vancouver Island University showed that some Nanaimo residents don’t feel safe going downtown. Leonard Krog, mayor, City of Nanaimo, joined Adam to talk about the situation and how the City of Nanaimo plans to reinstall confidence in public safety.
