1. Tom Herman can still close
With Top247 defensive lineman Alfred Collins choosing Texas over Oklahoma, the Longhorns were able to leap into the top 10 of the industry-generated 247Sports Composite 2020 ream rankings. The Sooners began the day ranked No. 9, but a late surge by not just Texas but Jeremy Pruitt's Tennessee Vols pushed the Sooners to No. 11. It would be the first time Oklahoma has finished outside the top 10 in the team rankings since 2016.
Even with the staff changes, Herman showed he can still close hard in February.
2. The Big 12 still can't recruit with the SEC
Three of the top five and seven of the top 10 classes for the 2020 cycle come from the Southeastern Conference. Knowing that Oklahoma was the only team to make the College Football Playoff to finish outside the top 5 in this cycle is also not a good look.
