  • Ep. 105 - Be Doers of The Word, Not Hearers Only - James 1:19-27

On episode 105 of the Adorned Podcast we discuss James 1:19-27. What does James mean when he says “let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger?” How do we distinguish righteous anger from sinful anger? This letter continues to both challenge and encourage our hearts and we pray that it is doing the same for you!

    Quotes:

“Anger is energy aroused in defense of something good and released against something evil.” Tim Keller

“Nonviolence is aggressive toward injustice, not persons” Martin Luther King Jr.

“Speak with love, serve the poor, and have whole-hearted devotion to God”. -The Bible Project

  • Ep. 104 - Temptation - James 1:13-18

On episode 104 of the Adorned podcast we discuss James 1:13-18.  James is reminding us that in order to resist temptation we must remember who God is . When times get tough do we fall into sin or do we turn our eyes to our Savior?

    Quotes:

“Remembering who God is is ultimately going to be what saves us in a time of temptation.” -Erin Kellogg

“We are never alone. We don’t have to walk through these hard things by ourselves and we don’t do it by our own strength. It’s by the power of the Holy Spirit that we are able to get through them, we just have to turn to Him.” -Kacie Hunt

  • Ep. 103 - A New Perspective on Trials - James 1:2-12

On Episode 103 of the Adorned Podcast we discuss what James meant when he said to “count it all joy” even in the midst of trials. Nobody wants to face hard times, but as believers that is often when we experience the most growth!

    Quotes:

“‘Count it all joy’ is a call to understand suffering from the vantage point of confidence in God’s sovereignty. What follows requires careful thinking from a theological perspective.” - Reformation Study Bible Note

“Faith is as vital to salvation as the heart is to the body. By faith God is greatly glorified and by faith Satan is greatly annoyed” -Charles Spurgeon

“I strive for the Scriptures to determine what matters to me in every season. As far as I can see it boils down to loving God and loving my neighbor. If something in my life is pulling me away from loving God and loving my neighbor that prompts me to prayerfully reevaluate, seek the wisdom of the Word, welcome the counsel of older wisdom, and potentially change my ways or walk in repentance.” -Hunter Beless

  • Ep. 68 (re-air) - Our Gifts, His Glory - Interview with Emily Jensen and Laura Wifler from Risen Motherhood

*This episode originally aired on August 9, 2019*

On episode 68 of the Adorned Podcast we continue our series, “Our Gifts, His Glory.” We had the privilege of talking with Emily and Laura from “Risen Motherhood” about what it looks like to use the gift of motherhood for God’s glory. If you are not familiar with the Risen Motherhood ministry, they exist to encourage, equip, and challenge moms to apply the gospel to their everyday lives. On this episode, we discuss everything from Emily’s amazing fire building skills to how potty training and mountains of laundry will continually point you back to the gospel. Even if you are not in the throws of motherhood, we believe you will find encouragement through this conversation!

    Quotes:

“Everything we have is The Lord’s.  It’s all been given by Him; all of our gifts, every skill set, our personality traits, our tendencies. God gives those to His people and if we truly are not our own but we belong to God then every resource, every gift we have, is actually His!” -Laura Wifler

“The neat thing about the gospel is that it makes us new and it changes everything about who we are.” -Emily Jensen

“God is the one, in Christ who reconciles our responsibility with our inability.” -Emily Jensen

“The great news of what God did for us is that He came and He said “I know that you’re not enough, but I’m going to send my son to be enough on your behalf and now before the throne of God, you are made good, you are made righteous, I see you and I see righteousness, I see patience, and kindness, and long suffering because I see Jesus.  He covers us in front of God,”” -Laura Wifler

“He is for my good and He is for their good, and I can trust Him.” -Emily Jensen

“We are not above Christ and what He has done.  He came to serve, he came to lay down His life, he came to deal with the dirty, stinky, messy, annoying needs that we all have.” -Emily Jensen

“As moms, so much of what we do is unseen, but it does matter and God is refining and molding, and growing us in these days. He’s preparing us for whatever good works He has down the road.  These days are not being wasted.” -Laura Wifler

  • Ep. 13 (re-air) - Who God Is - Infinite, yet Intimate

*This episode of the Adorned Podcast was originally aired on June 7, 2018*

On our 2nd episode in our series on who God is we discuss how He is Infinite, yet so very intimate.  He is eternal.  There is no beginning or end to God.  He is bigger and mightier than we can wrap our minds around, but yet he is also intimate.  He knows our hearts and He desires a personal relationship with us.  What does a better understanding of these attributes mean for our everyday lives? We would love for you to tune in as we continue to study the attributes of God!

    Quotes

“The finite can “grasp” the infinite, but the finite can never hold the infinite within its grasp.” - RC Sproul

“It’s not just that God knows us personally, but he knows our hearts.  He wants our hearts.  He wants our affections.”

“God doesn’t just want us to know about him, but he wants us to KNOW him.”

“ Knowing Jesus Christ still remains as definite a relation of personal discipleship as it was for the 12 when he was on earth. The Jesus who walks through the Gospel.” -J.I. Packer

  • Ep. 14 (re-air) - Who God Is - Our Good Father

*This episode was originally aired on June 14, 2018*

On our 3rd episode of our series on who God is we discuss how God is a good father.  Kacie walks us through their journey with having a baby with an “incompatible with life” diagnosis and how even through a season of unimaginable pain, God was still good. God is a good father that loves his children deeply.  He welcomes us back with open arms when we’ve gone astray and He loves to give us good gifts!  We talk about where this is found in scripture as well as how this impacts our day to day lives.

    Quotes:

“God is good - not because he causes things that seem or feel “good” to happen in our lives, but because in the midst of the storm, God comes closer to us than the storm could ever be.” -Charles Spurgeon

“God’s goodness is not just something he does, but it’s who he is.”

“What is “good” for us is whatever it is that is going to bring God the most glory!”

“When I can focus on God’s goodness it helps me put things in perspective and causes me to persevere knowing that he has a plan for my life and the life of my family and that it is good.”

  • Ep. 06 (re-air) - Theology - Why It's Important
*This episode was originally aired on April 18, 2018*
On this episode of the Adorned Podcast we discuss why theology matters and why what you believe about God is so important.  We also address the impact that poor doctrine can have on those around them.
    Quotes:
“What you believe about god is the most important thing about you” -AW Tozer
“The more we know about god, about his word, about his relationships to the world and mankind, the better we will trust him, the more fully we will praise him, and the more readily we will obey” - Wayne Grudem
“Belief affects behavior, and so ideas have consequences. A person who believes railroad crossing signal is stuck when in truth a train is coming may soon be dead. Likewise false doctrine will lead to false deeds.” Norman Geisler
“When I think about our goal as believers I think about the great commission that says “go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations.” This is the big picture.  This is what we need to remain focused on as believers and as disciple of Jesus.”
