Quotes:
C.S Lewis- “Theology means “science of God” and I think any man who wants to think about God at all would like to have the clearest and most accurate ideas about Him which are available.”
“This all sounds great in theory but super overwhelming in practice but just remember He made the gospel and himself a mystery so we would keep asking questions in order to grow in intimacy with him.”
“The other day we were sitting at lunch at Chuy’s talking about the Trinity over a big basket of chips and a bowl of creamy jalapeno”

This week on the Adorned Podcast we end the season by discussing some practical ways we can live out Jesus’s mandate to make disciples. We share some of our favorite resources as well as how we have developed rhythms in our lives and our homes for discipleship.
While this episode does not directly address racial injustices, we believe that injustice and sin is fought with the gospel. The resources in today’s episode are meant to point you to the truth found in God’s Word. We believe that every person is made in the image of God and are humbly listening, learning, and striving everyday to do better!

This week on the Adorned Podcast we wrap up our study of the Gospel of Matthew by discussing the great commission. Many of us are familiar with this mandate from Jesus, found in Chapter 28, but are we striving to live it out in our lives? What does it mean to “make disciples?” Are these instructions only for those in vocational ministry? Join us as we study one of our favorite passages together!
Quotes:
“The great commission is a mandate from the King of Kings who possesses all authority on heaven and earth.” -R.C. Sproul
“Before we understand the great commission or the new covenant we have to make sure we understand as platt says “we are saved purely by God's grace and supremely for his glory among the nations” we can’t be sent on mission unless we understand our identity and purposes.” -David Platt
“As the explanatory verbs “baptizing” and “teaching” indicate, the process of making disciples includes both evangelism of unbelievers - in which they are called to repentance and faith and submission to baptism, the sign of inclusion of the new covenant - and the instruction of believers in a life conformed to Jesus’ commandments, in response to His saving grace.” -Reformation Study Bible Notes
“A disciple is a learner that is enrolled in the school of Rabbi Jesus” -R.C. Sproul

On this week’s episode of the Adorned Podcast we discuss John 1:1-18. This is the second part of our breakout session recorded at the Proclaim Truth Conference in January. In these verses, John is reminding us that Jesus is the light. He was there at the beginning and will always be. He is divine yet took on flesh to dwell among us! We pray that this conversation is an encouragement to you and a reminder of who Jesus is!
Quotes:
“Jesus is the One who brings order to chaos.”
“Just like the Bible is a revelation of who God is, Jesus the son is also a revelation of who God is. He’s God in the flesh.”
“Come into union with the Word who made you, and you will come to Life!’ ’You came from him; please come back to him.’ ’You were made for him.’ The result of this reunion will be more than human existence; it will be human ’Life.’” - Bruner’s Commentary on John
“What am I reflecting? Am I reflecting what America says makes a good mom, wife, successful worker, etc or am I reflecting the life of Christ?”
“Jesus didn’t act like he was too good to fully engage with those around him (even though he was).”

We had the joy and privilege of leading a breakout called “How to Lead a Transformative Bible Discussion” at the Proclaim Truth Conference in January. Essentially we wanted to encourage and teach others how to have the same type of Bible centered conversations that we do on the podcast! This episode is a recording of the first part of that session where we walked the women through why these conversations are important and how to prepare for them. We would love for you to listen in and maybe even consider starting some of these discussions within your community!

This week on the Adorned Podcast Kacie and her husband, Jonathan discuss what God has been teaching them during this unique season of life through the book of Colossians. What does it look like to be the church while social distancing? How can gratitude guard our hearts from false teaching? We hope that you’ll tune in and that you are encouraged by this conversation.
Quotes:
“How has God gifted us to love and serve those around us?”
“Christ is the head, He is supreme, He is ruling.”
“If the church is full of people who have made decisions for Christ but have failed to become mature disciples OF Christ --- we have failed” J.T. English
“Is our confidence in the rules we obey and the things we do or is our confidence solely in Christ?”

Happy Easter, friends! This Easter looks and feels very different for all of us. What a gift it is to have a chance to slow down and be reminded that Easter is not about special dresses, a perfectly produced worship service, or an instagram worthy photo op. Easter is a time that we remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for our behalf and celebrate the fact that He has defeated the grave! Because of this, as believers, we can look forward to the day that we will spend eternity in the presence of our Heavenly Father!
Join us as we read the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection straight from scripture and are led to the throne in worship by Katie Cobbs. During this season of so much change and uncertainty, we pray that this special Easter episode encourages you to fix your eyes on your Savior!
This week on the Adorned Podcast we had the privilege to talk with author and podcaster, Jessica Hottle about what it looks like to “wait well.” Jessica shared with us what this has looked like in her own life as well as some wonderful examples from Scripture. We pray that you find this conversation full of truth and encouragement as you’re navigating this current season of waiting!
Quotes:
“God can take the smallest mustard seed of desire for Him and grow it over time.”
“Waiting well is contentment in God’s truths without complacency in action.” -Jessica Hottle
“Waiting isn’t just sitting around.”
“What we think is a downgrade is usually an upgrade of faith.” -Jessica Hottle
“He didn’t call us to make Christians, He called us to make disciples.” -Jessica Hottle
