  • Episode 16 - Relationships: The Continual Need to Please Others, Irrespective of the Detriment To Yourself

In this episode I dive into relationships and the continual need to please others. Losing yourself, seeking more excitement, becoming unsettled, learning to say NO, and Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) are some of the sub-topics that I cover within this umbrella. I talk about my own experiences and what happens to me when the butterflies begin to dissipate and the rose-tinted glasses lose their tint! This episode has some themes that people may find uncomfortable, as I discuss how some relationships we seek that keep us ‘on our toes’, can be abusive or detrimental to our own health.

  • Episode 15 - The ADHD Psychic… Having an Acute Awareness of the Feelings of Others; Sensing Their Unconscious Emotional Withdrawals, Frustrations and Tensions From Within

In this episode I discuss the EXHAUSTING world of having an ‘emotional sixth sense’: the capability to read those around you so astutely, often before they have registered their thoughts and feelings themselves. I talk about the vicious cycle in which you can end up in - your hypersensitivity making others’ withdraw, which in turn makes you hyper-reactive, and so forth, until the situation becomes unbearable - and how the ADHDer’s constant mood swings and emotional overloads can become too much for people to handle. I express myself through certain analogies involving coconuts, hyenas, and a certain wizard in an invisibility cloak. I also give an absolute solid reason for why I should win an Oscar (or 12)! • Episode 14 - The Seven Stages of… ADHD - What Happens When The Dust Settles

In this episode I discuss the ever-changing process after getting a diagnosis of ADHD, and the different stages you go through afterwards… Like the seven stages of grief, there are also many stages of emotions, post-diagnosis. There are many analogies used to help me communicate my feelings and experiences, most of which are linked to dinosaurs (sorry!). I share my current hyper-fixation with ADHD and what my next steps are, my lack of order (or abundance of chaos), and many other quirks surrounding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Enjoy!

  • Episode 13 - Enabling the Marriage Between Medicated and Unmedicated Me, and a ‘Little’ Thing Called Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria

In this episode I discuss my research into my System 1 and System 2 brains (illogical vs logical) as well as into Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria - a lovely little add-on to that emotional instability that many ADHDers struggle with. I share the ‘next steps’ that my journey entails, and the struggle I’m having between marrying up my medicated and unmediated selves. Enjoy!

  • Episode 12 - You’re Too Much… Dealing with Non-Conformity, Authoritative Figures and My Inability to Handle Rejection

In this episode I discuss LOADS… hands down, it’s my longest yet. Non-conformity and issues surrounding authority figures start the episode off, before I delve into the deep, dark world of rejection. I discuss those three magic words - You’re Too Much - and how I have dealt with that since being diagnosed and medicated. Experiencing an identity crisis last week meant that I was left feeling vulnerable and incredibly heightened - two things that make people Run. For. The. Hills. I discuss how my unrealistic expectations of myself (and others) have caused me huge challenges this week and have caught me off guard. There are some little anecdotes sprinkled in too, just to keep you all smiling!

Enjoy this next stage of my (seemingly never-ending) journey of life immediately after a diagnosis of adult ADHD.

  • Episode 11.5 - Duck… Duck… Goose? My Identity Crisis and Getting To Know Myself All Over Again

In this episode I recorded an ‘emergency’ session, due to finding myself having an unexpected mini emotional breakdown. In this episode I struggle massively with my identity and who I am, finding the correct balance between ‘me’ and ‘meds’,  current freedom inhibitors and, let’s face it, I’m pretty much confused for the entirety of the podcast. This is a massive struggle moment for me, yet I hope you can find some value in my struggle, revelations and journey. You could probably start a new drinking game with this episode - have a shot every time you hear the word ‘frustrated’!

I also share some examples of the more quirky little symptoms of Adult ADHD I experience and how they affect me in my daily life.

Episode 10 - I can’t believe it! In this episode I discuss being a walking contradiction in terms of my memory and hearing. I speak of my two different types of procrastination - the avoidance of a singular task versus the avoidance of absolutely everything. I hope you enjoy it and find it useful!

In this episode, I discuss the challenges I have faced since being diagnosed around mourning for the life that could have been, the experiences I could have had, and the potential husbands I could have married - if only my diagnosis had come sooner! I delve into accepting the new me, and some teething issues I have encountered along the way.
