We've always been taught that working out and cutting carbs is the key to losing weight, right? It's the tried and true method behind so many fad diets. But, what if that isn't true? What if the amount of exercise and activity we had didn't really change the amount of calories we burn in a day?
That's the new research from Dr. Herman Pontzer that he lays out in his book 'Burn: New Research Blows the Lid Off How We Really Burn Calories, Lose Weight, and Stay Healthy.
Dr. Pontzer is an anthropologist. His studies with hunter gatherer tribes has unveiled that our body changes the way it works so more exercise does not equal more calories burned. Losing weight hinges on the food we eat, but we need to be wary of fad diets that promise a quick solution.
I loved this conversation and I love this book. I'd highly recommend it to anyone interested in how their body really works. I'd also suggest it to anyone in the fitness world.
