  • Episode 8: Dealing with Loneliness: Navigating Being Lonely vs. Being Alone

We’re back for season two! In this episode, we talk about times in our post-grad life where we’ve felt lonely, how we’ve dealt with it and the difference between being lonely and being alone. In the media, our 20s are usually depicted as the time in our lives when we’re always surrounded by friends, and a time when we shouldn’t do anything alone. But we’ve learned that this representation is not always true. It’s normal for us to feel lonely in our 20s, and that it’s also okay for us to want to do some things alone. Listen to how we’ve navigated these feelings, especially during the pandemic, and how we feel society has influenced our interpretation of loneliness.

We’re excited for you to join us in another season of Adulthood Pending! This season, we will continue to post episodes every other Monday so stay tuned to hear more adulting stories from us and our upcoming guests!

  • Episode 7: How have we grown in 2020?

As we wrap up our first season and 2020, we wanted to take some time to reflect on our growth throughout the past year and adulthood. But first, we take a look back at our high school selves and wonder if we would be friends with each other if we all went to the same high school. (The answer might surprise you! :o) We then talk about what personal growth means to us, our journey with journaling, and how we’ve each grown as adults throughout this year when the term “personal growth” has become such a fad.

With this being our last episode of the season, we wanted to thank all of our listeners for listening and for everyone’s love and support! <3 We’re so excited to share more stories and for you all to continue to follow us on our adulthood journey when we come back in late January for season two!

  • Episode 6: Are you a feminist? ft. Romanshi

[TW: Sexual assault cases (13:26), the #MeToo Movement (16:10), and sexual violence (27:38) are briefly mentioned in this episode.]

In our penultimate episode of Season 1, we bring on our friend Romanshi to talk about feminism, how our understanding and definition of feminism have changed over the years, and how we’ve seen feminism being portrayed in our spaces as well as other countries. Like us, Rom graduated from Scripps College, a historically women’s college. She is currently writing her thesis for her Masters at the London School of Economics on gender norms and how they can be reshaped through education in developing countries. So while we all received the same foundation of education at Scripps, Rom brings on a different perspective on things that we wanted to share!

  • Episode 5: Where are you really from?

We created this podcast under our shared identities as adults new to adulthood but one identity we haven’t addressed yet is our Asian American roots. As Asian American hosts, we recognized that we couldn’t talk about all parts of adulthood without sharing about our Asian identity because of its strong influence in our lives and experiences. In this episode, we talk about how our ethnicity has played a role in our adulthood experience and how we hope to keep in touch with our culture and pass it on to future generations. We also hope that after listening to this episode, people will finally stop asking us, and other POCs, the unwarranted question of “where are you really from”.

We want to note that while there are many issues commonly touched on about Asians and the Asian American identity such as the model minority myth, the fetishization of Asian culture, and Asians in media and pop culture, we intentionally decided not to cover them in this episode as there are many other incredible resources that do cover these issues more in depth. • Episode 4: Do you want to get political?

In episode 4 we talk about how we have navigated talking about one of the most controversial conversation topics: politics. As excited and relieved as we are about the new President and Vice President, we want to remind our listeners to continue to participate in politics and engage in these difficult conversations. So in this episode, we discuss how we have adjusted to talking about politics in the workplace, how we navigate difficult conversations with those close to us, and reflect about how we want to have more of these conversations going forward. We close off our conversation by talking about the results of the Presidential Election and our hopes for the future of 2021.
