黃家駒係一個具有“貝多芬式”偉岸人格嘅人，嗰種對人類悲天憫人嘅情懷，嗰種充沛嘅理想主義激情，嗰種鑒定不移嘅強力意志，都令人動容。聽佢嘅歌，你會不知不覺間變得嚴肅。香港樂壇從來未有過呢種音樂人。

廣東話地區嘅文化，傳統上係相對注重世俗生活嘅，精神上嘅表演就係許冠傑。許冠傑光彩動人嘅音樂作品為廣東話文化精神作咗一個生動嘅寫照。而黃家駒卻係其中嘅一個異數。佢嘅音樂更加理想化，有一種企喺高處觀照人類嘅視野，佢嘅目光遠遠咁越過同時代嗰啲談情說愛嘅陳詞濫調。黃家駒進而對世界、對人類；退而對自我、對個人理想，都作出深沉嘅思考——但一定要睇到，佢嘅理想主義並唔係虛空無力嘅，而係將佢扎根喺現實裏面，呢個先至係佢最難能可貴嘅地方，否則佢冇可能真正打動咁多人——黃家駒係一個喺現實世界裏面掙扎奮鬥、但始終唔改變理想主義本色嘅音樂家，佢有血有肉，所以佢嘅音樂絕唔空洞。

黃家駒喺香港音樂人中的確係一個天才，唔單止詞曲都掂，而且天生一把好聲音，佢嘅聲音略帶沙啞，激昂雄渾，唱歌嘅時候情感隨著嗰啲偉大嘅作品自然流露，十分感人。可能就係呢個光芒四射嘅人太完美，上帝提前結束咗佢嘅生命。

喺《海闊天空》呢首驚世之作裏面，一開始就已經令人感到震驚，嗰個前奏有一種深沉，充滿力量嘅寧靜，一種天空嘅感覺——黃家駒真係寫出咗好似天空一樣廣闊嘅音樂，佢嘅精神終於達到咗最完美嘅境界，喺快要走到佢生命最後終點嘅時刻，佢終於寫出咗呢首巔峰之作。唔通呢個正係一個淒愴嘅預告？

Beyond, Part II

Wong Ka Kui has Beethoven's style in his music. He had a spiritual understanding about life and love, a passionate idealism, a belief in personal power, and a mind-set which deeply moved many of us. If you listen to his music it's easy to fall into a serious mood. There simply hasn't been any musician like him before.

Traditionally, the Cantonese music industry has produced songs that focus on our experiences in daily life, as with the songs by Samuel Hui, whose fun lyrics reflect ordinary life. Wong Ka Kui is different. His songs are more idealistic and his music went beyond day-to-day matters and drifted towards more "big picture" topics such as our views of the world, of the human race, of personal goals, and philosophical thinking. He put his deep thoughts into his lyrics but his idealism didn't come out of nowhere – it came from his personal experiences.

The most special thing about Wong Ka Kui is that he rooted his songs in his personal struggles. And if this wasn't the case, he wouldn't have touched so many listeners. Wong Ka Kui was a true musician who fought for himself and his true belief in idealism in the real world. His songs were never made up out of nothing.

Wong Ka Kui was a genius among all of the musicians in Hong Kong and not only because of his lyrics but also because of his unique voice. His voice was slightly hoarse but filled with passion and power. His voice was so emotional that it helped him perform his songs in a very natural way.

But maybe because this succession musician was too perfect, for God decided to take his life early. After his song "The Sky of Gene" went public, it was clear this was a masterpiece we had been awaiting for a long time. The melody gives us a dark impression of a silent sky filled with enormous power. Wong Ka Kui had successfully written a song as spacious as the sky. His spirit had reached the apex of life and it was then that he finally created this masterpiece.

Was this song a warning of the tragedy that was to strike so soon?
