When we decide to go back to the gym as part of our new Year's resolutions 😉, one of the first things we feel is SORE!

Our muscles are working harder than they're used to and we're all too aware of it.

When we say "yes" to going to the next level in our physical fitness, we know that it's going to take willpower, grit, perseverance and we're going to need to keep ourselves motivated to stay on course.

It's just the same when we say "yes" to the next level with God EXCEPT...

when we accept His invitation, He is the One Who is championing us on!

He knows that we will need encouragement. We'll need His help staying motivated. We'll need to know that He is right here with us as we push through the 'growing pains'.

It makes me smile when I imagine Jesus cheering us on (with a sweatband on his head and in His gym shorts). He's giving us water on our breaks and mopping our brow and telling us "you can do it!"

I encourage you to say "yes" to His invitation the the next level with Him - it's truly worth it.

“You can do it”

“You’ve got this”

“Just believe in yourself”

Most of us have seen or heard these comments sometime in our lives. And while they look good on the surface, they are not the Truth.

Let me explain…

Especially in the West, we grow up in the bigger picture culture where having confidence in our own ability is a thing we treasure. It’s all about “you can be anything you want to be”. It’s a beautiful collective motivating factor, but it can lead us to believe that ‘if it’s to be, it’s up to me’.

But when we look at the beautiful invitation Jesus gives us to say, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, we realize that there is SO much more to life than what we can do in our own strength.

As you listen to or watch today’s episode, you’ll see a super practical way to remember to ’stay in Jesus’ (I call it ‘Jello Jesus’ ;-)). Jesus-confidence is just so much more fun than self-confidence ever could be.

I've heard myself saying, "oooh, she really shouldn't have worn that"

or

"you're always so negative and I just can't take it any more"

Because if we're honest with ourselves, it can be far easier to see the 'dirt' in someone  than calling out the 'gold' in them.

The world can be so focused on pulling each other down (just watch the news for a moment...) that before we know it, we think that way too.

But wait...

What if there is a way to ask God how He sees the person in front of you?

• What makes them special in His eyes?

Now imagine that He WANTS to give you the wisdom on how to interact with them in a way that helps them to be all He created them to be?

Oh. My. Goodness! So good!

In my quiet time yesterday morning I was journaling through some things in my life that just don't feel right.

You know when you begin to realize that you're getting 'snappy' with people?

We all go through these times and I've come to understand that, in His goodness, God lets things bubble up to the surface when it's time to look at them and see them healed.

Make no mistake, it doesn't feel good when this happens. I hear you and I'm right there with you.

As you listen to today's episode you will hear God's kind invitation to remove that thorn that's been in your foot for too long (and really needs to be taken out now so that you can walk again). It may hurt for the moment, but then you can heal and not only walk, but run and have fun.

I was texting backwards and forwards with a friend of mine today.

He is looking to buy a new car and was asking me to agree with him and pray that God will lead him in the transaction.

I text him back and found myself starting with “thank you God for this”, thank you God for that…” and I realized that I talk to God in a thank you sandwich.

• Firstly, thanking Him for who He is (not what He does] - but who He is.

This way of having a prayer conversation with Him is just loaded with goodness and gratitude, and a real reminder that we're having a conversation with our Father who adores us (and not asking a slot machine to throw us a win).

I LOVE that God is so eager to talk to us, His kids, throughout the day.

Just imagine with me for a bit...

• you're facing a difficult decision and God wants to share wisdom with you

Oh. My. Goodness!

What an amazing gift we're being offered every moment of the day. 

But sometimes we're waiting for some BIG announcement, or an international prophet to confirm, or.... 

and that just doesn't seem to come.

But what if God actually is speaking to us in multiple small whispers all the way through the day?

What if we listened and paid attention to those whispers and then went on the adventure of asking Him questions so He can reveal His wisdom?

Now that is an invitation I'd say "yes" to!

I wonder what it must really have been like for the disciples to be in that boat in the middle of a storm.

They were seasoned fishermen who had spent a big part of their lives on the water, and even they were scared!

I was talking with a client this week and she's in the middle of her own 'storm' right now. The waves are big. The lightning is wild. And she's not sure that her boat will see her through.

It's a scary place to be!

As she was sharing I remembered this lesson that the Holy Spirit took me through when I was in a storm that seemed too big. 

• Our perceptions are real

As you listen to today's podcast, you will discover how having an anchor in the Truth of the Bible will keep you safe through any storm in life. No matter what comes your way and how big and scary it looks, Jesus wants to show you the anchor you can hold onto that will give you peace in the middle of it all.

"I just don't know what to do!"

I've heard myself (and mannnnyyyyy others) say that so many times over the years.

We can get to a place where we've got multiple pieces of information, but we just don't know how to sort through them, or how to hear the Truth so that it can stand out and lead us.

We need help...

• Holy Spirit help

And that's the beauty of what you'll discover as you listen to today's episode. God puts wise counsel all around us, and we just get to ask Him to show us how to hear.

When the leaves begin to turn color and you see beautiful yellow, red and orange landscapes, you know to start prepping your winter clothes. 

You know that temperatures will cool down...

You know that daylight hours will shorten...

You know that sandals will give way to boots.

All of these things are simply part of the season that you're in. So, you go into each day with the mindset of 'this is the way it is and I'm going to adjust'.

Just like you experience these seasons in the natural, you will experience seasons like this in your spirit life with God too.
