A shipment of bricks is being blamed for the spread of Red Imported Fire Ants into Central Queensland. 

Nests have been detected at five mine sites in Bowen's Basin. 

It comes six weeks after a fire ant nest was uncovered at a mine site in Broadmeadow - the region's first detection. 

Rural Reporter Toby Gough spoke with The Invasive Species Council's Reece Pianta, who warns further spread is likely.
