George Walton was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. A member of the delegation from Georgia at the Continental Congress, George was born in Virginia, orphaned as an infant, and raised by an uncle who thought schooling was an excuse for idleness. George's love of learning led him to forego becoming a carpenter as his uncle wished, and instead, he became a lawyer and famous Georgia statesman. This is his intriguing story.
