A massive fourth quarter from Fremantle saw the Dockers get within a goal, but the Bombers held on for their six-point win. 

It was a late start from Fremantle who kicked four goals in the first three quarters, but finished the game with another four goals in the final term. 

Essendon kept Freo skipper Nat Fyfe quiet while Dylan Shiel ran rings around many of the Dockers.

But arguably the most impressive play of the day belonged to Fremantle debutant Sam Sturt who kicked three goals for the game.
