The Captain and I will be deliberating on the following topics: for our weekly "positive spin" Blue Area segment-the continued rise (and acceptance) of the Black Santa Claus and The Corcoran Gallery of Art's "30 Americans" exhibit which explores African-American identity as interpreted by over 30 prominent Black artists; two disparaging stories involving the Obamas-the President being referred to as a "skinny, Ghetto crackhead" and a US senator's remarks about FLOTUS Michelle Obama possessing a "large posterior"; picking up from our previous broadcast pertaining to an article positing the need for Black America to "re-brand" itself and NY Daily News columnist, Stanley Crouch gets critiqued for his critique of the demise of America's trash culture; a Dutch magazine uses the n-word (along with the b-word) to describe pop singer, Rihanna in a recent article and in more "n-word" news, author and lastly, poet, Maya Angelou has a problem with actor/rapper, Common's use of the slur (in her presence).
